Quite likely the whole drivetrain will be uprated by, as mentioned, spec'ing Caddy CTS-V items, so I wouldn't expect the Z-28 to go 'splodin all over the place. I would also expect the suspension to be sharpened up a bit from the slightly soft SS's. Remember, it took Ford till '10 to get the GT500's all sorted out too.

As to which will be the better performer, well, of course nobody knows but I'd expect them to be quite close with perhaps the Z-28 having an edge in handling and the GT500 an edge accelerating. Probably will come down to not so much how fast each car is but how well each car goes fast. The slightly smaller and, presuming an AL block, lighter GT500 might be a touch more nimble on the flats, while the Z-28's IRS will probably keep its footing better in the rough and tumble back roads.

In any case, its great that the Mustang and the, IMHO overpriced, GT 500 will be getting some real competition as that will only force Ford to step up its game even more with the Stang rather than the near complacency the Stang has suffered through heretofore. I can remember back when the Stang and Camaro were at each other's throats before and how both companies had to constantly up their game to keep in the fray, all to the immense benefit of enthusiasts.

Now if Dodge would stick a V-10 in the Challenger and drop its price to competitive levels...
