Camaro concept

Not bad looking - once some of the "edgy" concept look is dropped it will look pretty decent - not to mention those silly looking "Type R" mirrors......the roofline is the best part of the profile....funny how the guys over at the Camaro site are bashing Ford for going so retro with the Mustang and that's EXACTLY what GM appears to be doing with the new Camaro....if (that is) GM will really make it.....hopefully it will have an all new chassis like the new Mustang's that will make it a much better handling ride as well.....not a "reskinned" Impala or something of that sort.

Wow it's the late 1960s all over again. First Mustang, next Shelby, now Challenger, and Camaro.
What's next the AMX?

Wouldn't that be the "Javelin" - I thougth that was AMC's pony car copycat?

I'm not liking it personally. The Challenger concept looks way better. This is too angular or something. I know it's just a concept but I hope the production version looks better.

It looks like the next generation of KIT from Knight Rider. What is that indention above the grill and below the hood? Is that where the sweeping light goes?
I have a '68 Camaro parked next to my '67 Mustang.....I can honestly say that they would have done better to go for the retro look with the re-release of the camaro.

i have to agree w/ everyone else that the camaro looks ok but scrap the front end and the challenger looks good all around. what we all have to remember tho is that concepts and production vehicles rarley look a like. what im worried about is hp of competitors cars, i dont want the mustang to get beat like it was w/ the 4th gens (camaro v. mustang) then agiain, hp is usually diffrent too. i mean look at the mustang concept when it was out in 03 or 04 or whatever it was. it looked diffrent and had a 5.0 cammer w/ 440hp!
Edit: (dont pay attention, specs are wrong...whoops, see later post)

Uh... what mustang concept had 440hp?
Are you talking the 2004 (05 concept?)
It had a supercharged 4.6 not the cammer...
The cammer was in the GTR-40...which is where they took some styling elements from (front end) for the GT500

This is such a good thing I can't stand it. Nothing better than competition - Ford will not sit around and let GM/Chrysler take away Mustang's current domination of the muscle car segment.
I don't think the Camaro concept is bad at all - the rear of the car is very '69-ish and good - while the front needs some work. But remember the early S197 Mustang concept and how much different the production model turned out to be...
Also remember sometimes that pics do not do the actual car justice. When I first saw pics of the production '05 Mustang, I wasn't crazy about it. But it was a different story seeing it in person.
For the Camaro - I say, BRING IT ON!

Another vote for more HP from Ford for our Stangs. Chargers that look like senior citizen grocery getters are banging out over 400 HP. Every concept of Challenger and Camaro kicks our HP butt. 300 isn't enough. 350 isn't enough. 375 will shut me up for now, but I think an SE with 410-440 should be an option soon! Then bump the Cobra or Shelby GT500 or whatever comes next up to 525+.

Every CONCEPT. These cars havn't been made. There is more to a car than pure horsepower, and with the way the trend to more fuel efficient cars is going I don't know how pleasant it would be for Dodge or Chevy to come out with a 4000lb+ car with 480+HP.
My hope -- they don't increase the Mustang GT horsepower by much. They make the optional SE's a little beefier under the hood, but make the handling more aggressive and lighten up the car.
Everyone on these Dodge and Chevy forums talk about how these cars are going to stomp on the Mustang GT. Well, with the big Hemi in the Challenger at 4000+ lbs I don't think it will stomp on it, but, the prices...For the Camaro concept witht the Z06 engine and the Challenger with the big hemi, I wouldn't expect an MSRP under 40k.
I'm sure that each car will have a mid range engine option, ie a 350-400hp motor of some sort, the LS2 maybe and the 5.7L Hemi, but, we'll have to see.
I'm all for competition, but I've read the Ford bashing for going retro on other boards just as you guys have. Now their retro models have come out, and they can't wait. What's the deal?

It seems not many chevy guys like the new camaro.

I like everything except the front.

The best thing I see about the Camaro concept, the Challenger and a few other ones is that the auto companies might see
a market for 2 door "sport sedans" not like when
DC introduced the Charger with the idea there's not a market for 2 door cars.
Mustangs sales may have cause them to rethink the potential of this market and competition could keep it strong for a while.
It would be fun to have "pony car" choices again.

Like I said before, we are fine with the Shelby(475hp), now we need a Stang in the 400hp range.
