Interesting thing is that F-150 is rated below average.

The list came from Consumer Reports. I saw it on CNN's website this morning. And I could care less about trucks, but since they're Ford's bread and butter for years, they should.

I saw that the other day. It must not be a very current list though.

The Element has been taken off the recommended list due to failed side crash test. I always wondered how ours would have handled in an accident when we had it.

The Corolla, Camry and the Forrester were also removed along with the Focus unless equipped with side air bags. They all didn't do well without the extra safety feature.

As for CR's reporting I'm not to keen on how they do it. They used to not recommend anything that was a new model or had not been crash tested. But within the past year they have been rating them without doing so and then reneging on their recommendations. I chose not to use them when it comes to research. Especially safety.

I usually use JD Power and Edmunds consumer ratings and other resources.

As for the F-150 it has a very high consumer rating and has the highest safety crash test rating.

They already have the Ridgeline listed as one of the most reliable pickups? Has that thing even been out long enough to provide any solid reliability statistics? Me thinks the "H" badge may have earned it a spot there...

This is why I don't pay attention to Consumer Reports.

For owning a 05 F-150 yourself, you sure do complain alot about it.

Zastava_101 Oct 30, 2005 09:50 AM

I never complained about F-150. This is first time I mentioned anything negative about F-150, and its not because of my personal experience, its what others wrote. If I didn't think it was good enough, I would've bought Silverado or Ram. My F-150 have under 600 miles on odometer so its too soon to tell if its great truck or not. But I like what I saw so far.
