370Z Spy Pics

Still very thick and pudgy looking to my eyes rather than lean, muscled and athletic. Front grills seems kind of contrived while the "retro" side window (ala 1st gen Z car) looks out of scale (rear quarter window is too small). Not sure about the "boomerang" front and rear lights, would have to see on a production car to tell if they're either a styling affectation or styling trend.

I'm sure that it will be a fine driving car, as is the current one, with even more power (330hp +) and improved dynamics, but visually, it is still lacking as compared with the first and third gen cars.

I like it a little better than the current ones, especially that it is smaller and lighter. Hopefully they can get the interior right, I've always hated that huge unnecessary brace in the rear hatch area that takes up so much room and really limits interior storage space. I also hope they keep wheel size down, standard 17's would be nice, maybe with optional 18's. I had a 280Z many years ago that I really liked and have been keeping a watchful eye on the Z cars over the years.

300ZX is still the best looking... this thing will be light and fast though

Knight 10/8/08 12:34 PM

300ZX was a great looking car. But this 370Z does look like a good imporvment over the 350z which i particularly hate.

I like the new side window design, the old one looked like a roof on a tub with te straight across line and the super huge body height.

Vermillion06 10/8/08 01:23 PM

It's an improvement over the 350z but I wish they would quit using the Porsche styling cues and go back to using the Jaguar/Ferrari/Aston styling cues used on the the original Z cars like my '71 240z.

Strickland 10/8/08 01:48 PM

That's one mean looking car. The rear hip calls back to the early Z cars

lowblustang00 10/8/08 02:32 PM

I like it. The boomerang headlights have taken me some time to get used to. The first time I saw them on the Maxima I hated them, and thought they looked stupid.

Zastava_101 10/8/08 02:55 PM

Its ok, I guess.

Hollywood_North GT 10/8/08 04:46 PM

Sorry, that side profile is UGGG-LY.

RedFire4.6 10/8/08 07:12 PM

Eh It looks better than the 350 but its nothing special.

hi5.0 10/8/08 10:16 PM

Looks like another potential victim of the "big mouth styling" trend. The tail lights are still as atrocious as ever - the current ones remind me of a cat with its ears pulled back enough to slant the eyes... yuck. BTW, that brace is there for structural rigidity.

GTR DNA is present, plus more rumors of an optional 4.5L V-8. With reduced weight, it should scream.

Precisely why the 2011 Mustang GT needs 400 HP...to put this car in its place.

jsaylor 10/10/08 06:12 AM

Enormously better looking than the current car. Proportions are better, as is the overall profile. Unfortunately some of the finer details are still a it off.

As for an optional 4.5L V8, I wouldn't hold my breath. The new Z is reported to be a couple hundred pounds lighter than the existing model and is apparently going to be bringing something like 350hp to the table even in 3.7L trim. That is easily going to make for a high 12/low 13 second car as is. A worthwhile V8 option is going to have to bring close to 400hp to the table, likely vaulting this thing into Corvette C6.5 acceleration territory which sounds great until you realize that would put any such '450z' waaaay to close to GTR acceleration numbers for comfort. And Nissan isn't about to do anything which could tarnish the image of it's golden boy.

I LOVE the new design. It took a while for me to get used to the new Nissan headlight design, but after seeing the new Maxima in person, I'm a believer. I like that Nissan made the new Z smaller and (reportedly) lighter. The interior looks great, and the exterior reminds me of a cross between the Z and a BMW M coupe, which definitely isn't a bad thing.

runningwild4.6 10/10/08 10:40 AM

EHHH. Me not impressed with it. Back end looks "squished"

Cavero 10/10/08 01:47 PM

oddly enough I think I like it. I'd still take a 240 over it any day

MBK 10/10/08 01:57 PM

if they release a V8 bank on it costing at least 40K. you can't get many imports with a V8 for under 40K

Cavero 10/11/08 11:42 AM

that makes no sense. Not your second sentance, just the notion they'd put a V8 in a Nissan.

StangMahn 10/11/08 12:40 PM

I think it's pretty fugly, front end from a 350Z mixed with those rediculous headlights from the new maxima, middle from the GTR, and those rear windows look like something from a gremlin
