I am though. :D And a Ford fan boy, don't forget. :D LOL

The only 2 cars that I would buy right now are the Hellcat Challenger and another Mustang, either a GT350R, (but I would supercharge, pending on how much Lethal Performance and VMP can do with their builds), or a GT PP and build the f*ck out of it. OH,...the Hellcat, I would build the f*ck out of it as well. Just like Owen did in those videos. (We've chatted online. Great guy!) Not many mods to accomplish that either, which is the great thing.

HOLY SMOKES!!!!!! :spaz:
Look at that torque!

Stage_3 3/12/16 01:32 PM

Saw my second Hellcat today! The first one was a GORGEOUS Hellcat Charger at a stop light. Awesome rumble and that whine,..................
Today coming home from the gym I saw my first Hellcat Challenger in the B5 color! GORGEOUS! I kinda want one, I'm not gonna lie. lol
I want it Plum Crazy Purple, with black satin hood/black wheels and Sepia Premium leather interior. NASSSTTTYYYYYY!!!!!! ;)

shaneyusa 3/13/16 10:12 PM

I saw one on the road last fall. Seen it around my area a few times. It was a brute. This one was white with red striping. I think it had custom vinyls on it. There is not a single picture on the web that looks like it. Had some large 707 hp lettering on the front fenders and the word "Hellcat" running with the stripes on the hood. At least that is what I recall. Guess I need to get a picture next time I see it out and about...

Looks like Whipple is making a kit for the Hellcat. (I'm surprised KB hasn't made a kit yet.)
From what I have heard/read, is that it makes 1,200-1,300HP "easily". lol "Easily". The car has been with Whipple for 5 months now. Obviously, the owner lives out in California as Whipple is based out of California. I "assume" this customer is getting this kit for free. Should be interesting.
Gonna need a lot of supporting mods money!! :heh:

I wish they would shave the weight down some, somewhere. 200lbs. would be a great start.

1,000 HP at the rear wheels has been done, by either one or two cars. I would think that would be pushing it. (I would be afraid to find out! lol)
These modified cars run mostly the 1/2 mile and mile runs.

Either he has removed the stripes or it is not quite what I remembered... I could have sworn there were matching lemans style stripes front to back over the hood, top, and trunk. Take a good look at the backend taillight area, it has a Hellcat logo on the black area too.

Here is a few cellphone pics of the local HellCat that I promised...

Hey Steve!
I remove all except "maybe" the pin stripe. Even that is debatable. I think that car looks best the way it comes from the factory, without any stripes or emblems like posted above. I think they are offering racing stripes for the 2016 model Hellcats as an option. I'm not really digging it much though.

The Dodge salesman tried to sell theirs to me that was on the salesroom floor when I went to pick my truck up when it came in. It wasn't there when I ordered the truck about 7 weeks earlier. Triple back, loaded with M6. They had ADM on it, but he said if I wanted it, I could get it for sticker, maybe a tick less.

My favorite is a tie between the Sublime Green and the GoMango Orange with carbon fiber stripes. (Gotta have the carbon fiber stripes on the GoMango.) Then, the Plum Crazy Purple. All killer colors.

So,.................I guess Whipple is finally done with the 4.5 Whipple supercharger they have been making for the Hellcats.
As I understand it,........on pump gas it's 1,000HP. On E85,....it's 1,200HP and race gas is 1,500HP.

Not too shabby, we'll probably see bigger numbers as people start messing with that 4.5. I know a guy that made 1k on a 2.9 with his GT500 but it was hard on the blower and grenaded it.

Yeah, that is nasty stuff indeed.
I know Terry from Beefcake Racing has a 4.5 Whipple for his car and it's powder coated PCP, so I "assume" his car is PCP as well.

Not 2015's, but 2017's.
These are the two colors I would go with. GoMango Orange or the Go Green. Both with the black carbon stripes. Gotta have the stripes on the Hellcat, adds character. lol :heh:
If I did the GoMango, I would definitely go with the optional black 5 spoke wheels. If I did the Go Green, it would be difficult to choose between the new optional 5 spoke black wheels, OR the standard equipment wheel, which for me would be the brass monkey color with that green. Both look killer.

Gorgeous car!!
Love the PCP. Cars like these I would never buy used. I don't trust the past. LOL :heh:
In all honesty, I would LOVE a Hellcat, but the thing that holds me back, (besides the fact that the new GT500 might be coming out), is that these cars are hit or miss. They have threads and a poll on Hellcat.org and the good to bad ratio of superchargers and how many people have theirs replaced to those that haven't isn't a very convincing one. It's bad actually. The bearings in the superchargers are bad.
The company that supplies the superchargers, IHI, are to blame here. BUT, if I were Dodge, I would tell them to shape up or you're out!! Going on 2 years now! **** THAT!!!
70k car and you have to bring it to the dealership to get a new supercharger?! :shame: :bad:

Car made mid 900s on Pump gas, and a little over 1000 on the customer's E85 blend. No boost changes, just tuning for different fuel. The 4.5l Whipple fits under the stock hood without changing motor mounts / etc.

Car got:

Whipple 4.5l Kit
Stainless Works Longtube Headers
Driveshaft Shop 1400hp Axles
Driveshaft Shop 1 Piece Driveshaft
Snow Methanol Injection System
Fore Fuel System
Built 8HP Transmission (8 Speed Automatic)
Weld Wheels / Beadlocks / Tires

Stage_3 3/22/17 06:08 PM

Well,.......right after we have the 4.5l Whipple supercharger, I just got wind that Kenne Bell is manufacturing a 4.9l for the Hellcat currently. Tim Barth posted it on the Hellcat forum and he is going to be the tuning for the 4.9l Kenne Bell.
Wow. :nice:

Gabe 3/22/17 07:50 PM

Absolutely unnecessary.
The 4.5L Whipple, pullied down, I'm sure can deliver way more than 1,000 hp.
But KB always has to have the bigger number, so they're coming out with that 4.9 so they can say "mine's bigger" in the d1ck-measuring contest.

Stage_3 3/23/17 03:00 PM

I agree.
The main difference besides the output liters is that the KB is liquid cooled.
Either way,........you're gonna need A LOT of money for supporting mods. :heh:

bt4 3/28/17 04:46 PM

No doubt those kinds of mods require a pretty good-sized discretionary budget!

If you were building a car for the strip, it might be cheaper going with the turn-key solution, a Dodge Challenger Drag Pack. The N/A version with the 426 hemi is under 100K. The blown 354 is more--but I don't know how much more--maybe 5K? Of course no VIN means not street legal, but you wind up with an out of the box Factory Stock competitor capable of an 8.5 at 150+.

Stage_3 4/7/17 05:50 PM

Hellcats putting in work.

Stage_3 4/11/17 06:32 PM

HOLY FCKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me?! LOL
The new Dodge Demon does 0-60 in 2.3 seconds. It does 0-100 in 5.9 seconds I think it was.
Quarter mile,..............9.65 @ 140 MPH!!!! :screwy: :metal:
And, it doesn't look that bad at all. I had my doubts with the fender flares and all, but it looks pretty good. What a nasty car. I just watched the unveiling and live feed on Youtube.
Dodge just killed it. Game over. lol :rofl2:

And already banned from NHRA competition, so why even bother?
Oh, cuz you can do a rollcage and other things to make it legal, things which will add weight, so it's not gonna perform as well as advertised.
Yes, you can probably mod the thing for more power, but Chrysler hasn't been making it easy to tune the PCM on their cars lately, so not sure about the tune thing.
Guess time will tell.
But to advertise a drag-racing package that's not legal to actually drag-race in the spec it's sold in, that's B.S.

Yeah,........I didn't and I still don't understand that either. I watched the unveiling live last night for an hour.
So, I guess you need to add a rollcage, which adds the 200lbs that it lost to begin with, or more. lol I bet there will be tuners ready to mod this car, just like they do the Hellcats. I honestly didn't think I was going to like the looks of it with the fender flares and all, but I think it looks good.
The other thing that caught my ear,......Hagerty is the ONLY insurance company you will be able to insure the Demon with. Seems like they had a good business going there as well. I'm sure other insurance companies want nothing to do with that car. lol
But I will admit, the car is beast. 0-60 and 0-100 times are very impressive as is the quarter mile time. Very impressive.

bt4 4/12/17 04:10 PM

I'll concede that 9.65 in a quarter is quick for a car that weighs over two tons. But, it is bound to be a lot of money just to claim bragging rights.

It's obviously overkill for the street, and it would require extensive modification for the strip. The Challenger Drag Pack is Dodge's entry in the NHRA Factory Stock class. It would chew up the Demon and spit out the pieces, even with its smaller engine. (The best run with the Drag Pack has been 8.2)

The guys taking home trophies in the FS class are Dave Barton and Chris Holbrook. The Watson Racing Mustang Cobra Jet has put down an 8.11 @ 167+ and Dave Barton at the wheel of a COPO Camaro has ripped off an 8.10 run with a trap speed over 169-MPH.

Definitely going to cost A LOT of money.
While the Watson Racing Mustang Cobra Jet and COPO Camaro do put out some really impressive numbers, they are not street cars like the Demon is. Especially just being able to walk into a dealership or order one from a dealership.

How much of a street car is an 840-HP one-seat car that no one wants to insure? The things that separates the COPO Camaro, the CJ Mustang and the Demon is a VIN number, and a roll cage. And 800-lbs.

Game over. lol :rofl2:

The Demon is putting out insane John Holmes numbers, holy schnikes. Fun to watch the big 3 compete in the mine is bigger than yours.

Did you guys see this about an Indiana driver and his Hellkitty? Not too bright.

OK, I confess--I oversimplified. However, that doesn't mean a COPO or a CJ cannot be turned into a street legal machine. It can and has been done, with the Camaro and the Mustang. Though, the why of it escapes me. Just as the why of the Demon escapes me.

I like the Challenger--the design has aged well. The Demon will be a straight-line, well, demon. Having said that where would you unleash it? On a quick trip through Sonic?

Bend a fender. Get a ticket for 140 in a 55-MPH zone? The only insurance company willing to insure your car will be sending you an invoice demanding your first born child as payment.

If you want to buy it as a collectible to put under glass--OK. Not my thing, but it could appreciate due to the limited production.

On a drag strip? NHRA says no! Not without a cage. My point with the CJ and COPO was these are the almost street cars, with cages. With smaller engines and less horsepower than the Demon, the Dodge still just wouldn't compete. Unless you completely strip the car--throw away the horn, the wiring for the brake lights, the head lights, the A/C. In which case, you no longer have a street legal car, and you should have just bought the Drag Pack to begin with.

From what I understand the 840hp and 770 ft-lbs torque numbers are achieved on 100+ octane gas.
Running 91 octane gas the car's down to 808/717.
Really disappointing numbers, especially when considering the regular Hellcat can put out these numbers with light mods

The ONLY company that will insure the Demon is Hagerty Insurance.

I kind of agree.
I would have liked the 4 digit power range, but the car is stupid quick with the horsepower and torque that is has with the 100+ octane PCM/tuning. You swap out PCM's for the 2 octane levels. One for the 91 octane and one for the 100+.

Interesting. They might insure the Demon--will they insure the driver?

The first thing they will do is pull an MVR from the state. Some violations can be forgiven. (Some states will let a speeding ticket slide if it is for less than 11 miles over the speed limit.) Some violations, like speeding in a school zone, states (and insurance companies) tend to be a lot less forgiving. Traffic accident? Uh, maybe, if it wasn't your fault. Traffic accident with fatalities? Good luck with that.

I can only imagine what they will demand as a premium. (Cha-ching!)

I'm perfectly happy with my plain old SRA '14 GT 6 speed ragtop. I don't mind settling for a measly 420HP.

I bet that is a HEFTY insurance bill every month.

You have a great looking car Tom. Enjoy it. :nice:

I love Yolo. He always tells it like it is.
I'm glad that he's working for VMP Performance now. Dude knows his stuff really well.

He's a sellout, a UPR and VMP ball licker, and he stopped being funny a long time ago.

I take it you don't like him Gabe?! :D

Curious, why is he a sell-out? (Not being facetious, just curious as to why you think that.) I know that VMP sells/recommends UPR stuff. Dude is really smart with the Coyote engines and tuning. I'm glad that he's working for VMP Performance. The cars that he has tuned are nothing nice. Nasty stuff.
I think that he may be getting into the Hellcat cars tuning and stuff soon as well. He kinda of hinted at it in another video really quick, not sure if he's serious or not though.

I like the Challengers. I rented one for a week down in Arizona just to see what they're like and I liked it. I thought it was a well balanced platform. Cool to drive. I went and bought another Mustang after that but I still enjoyed the Challenger.
Some day I would like to own one plus my mustang.

That's awesome Mark. I drove one a while back and I loved it. So comfy and the driver's seat just felt right. It was a SRT8 Challenger.
Congrats on the new Mustang brother! :nice:

The only thing that keeps me from considering a Challenger is the lack of a convertible.

Funny you mention that.
There is a company that specializes in that specific order. A Hellcat forum member has one and showed progress photos of it. Everyone likes it. I'll be honest, I don't. I think it looks out of place. Again, that's just my opinion. Maybe because the car is so big? I don't know what it is, but it looks funny to me.
OH,.....and it's not cheap either. I think it costs like 14-15k to do the conversion!! :fear:

Saw a 392 Challenger yesterday morning going to work. Wow, what a killer looking car. So nice. Very aggressive looking. Black on black on black.
