Don't get me wrong, most times I love living in New York, but every winter I wonder why I live here. My 2005 GT has only 600 miles on it and I got it in November. Last time I had her out was Christmas day. There is so much salt on the roads here I don't want to take her out because I can't even wash her off...its 7 degrees here right now! I have just been starting her up once a week and letting her run until warm. I am counting the days 'till April!
Just ranting... :bang:

I don't understand why people live there in the summer, much less the winter. Too many taxi cabs around for me.

I love Upstate NY. The eastcoast is great in the summer and the ski/snowboarding resorts are great also for the winter time. My mustang is tucked away for the winter and thats OK. Makes it more fun in the spring and summer. So ya can't drive the car for 4 months . It saves milage

Here I sit praying dearly..........
That my husband doesn't get silly and take an open position(Horrors!!).......
Because to do that would make me nearly(CRAZY!!)......
Insane and leading the opposition......
Three whole days of summer a year....
Hideous insurance
My same house would cost me a half mil. up there.......
My poor poor pony would be very very unpleased if she were a yankee pony. Shes a fine southern lady and prefers staying that way.
Its bad enough here weatherwise!!!

Also note that NYC encompasses more than just Manhattan.

The summers are usually fine, June, July, August, just about right. Riding season's a bit longer than that.
Amazing what those who haven't lived in the area think...
But yes, the housing prices in downstate are insane, but if you were working in Manhattan, housing in PA and NJ can be more reasonable, but not always. (Yes I know people who travel from PA to NYC every weekday.)

I'm in northern New York...just across the St. Lawrence River from Canada. The HIGH today is going to be 4 below zero. Yes, it stinks to be me. B)

I have no idea where Goshen is and I never said anything about Manhattan.
I always thought the Frank Sinatra song was talking about New York City.

I live about 45 min Northwest of the city so not many taxis here just really cold weather.
That was below the belt.
It was almost 80 on my ride home yesterday. I put the top down. I wonder why I'm still living here, oh wait?

Exactly.

It is. But since the original poster is from Goshen, it should be quite obvious he isn't. He was just using a clever title for the thread.

 I think you are arguing just for the sake of arguing. I am stating why I don't like NYC, what does that have to do with where the original poster is from.

I think it's funny how some people think New york is just pavement and car jams. Some of the best summer driving in the US is in the adirondacks. Lake George region.
I lived in the South for years. The weather is a lot better if your not into snow. lived inAtlanta,GA. Talk about traffic jams. I lived 6 miles from work and it took 45 minutes to get home every day.
The one thing I could not figure out living in Georgia. Why are some of the people still fighting the civil war hating on the people from the north.
