Front License plate - Required or Not?

I will be getting my new mustang very soon and want to know if I am required to have a front license plate in the state of Illinois.

If you are know the requirements for your state please list.

In Ohio you have to. In KY and IN they don't.

Yes. It is required.
Selectively enforced as most things are.

Did some research and here is what I found out for Illinois from the DMV...

In Illinois your car, by law, must display two license plates: one in the rear and one in the front. Additionally, the back license plate must brandish a current registration sticker. If you're missing a registration sticker, a license plate, or both, you must apply for a replacement as quickly as possible. If you're stopped, you may be ticketed and fined, regardless of the circumstance.

Here is the link if you would like more info...http://search.dmv.org/dmv/illinois/front-license-plate

31 states require all registered vehicles to display two license plates. While 19 states mandate only one license plate...

Sure like the look of the new front bumper without it but I just dont need another reason to be pulled over.

Front plate is required to your north in WI, but I went 4 years without one until Barney Fife was board in a small town we were passing through and decided to pull me over. But after getting my local constable to verify the plate was one (it was a fix-it ticket), I pulled it back off and put it behind my seat. Even my local guy told me he would never pull someone over for no front plate, so I plan to take my chances and see if I can make it another 4 or 5 years before I find the next bored cop

My parents just purchased a new BMW in Moline, IL and the dealer told them they did not need a front plate. He actually told them to just keep the plate in the car and have it available if asked.

I dont plan on putting the front plate on unless asked nicely

Please let us know if you are running a front plate on your ride and what state, city you live in?

I live in IL and I don't use a front plate its been 3 years now on my stang without any trouble , my last 3 three cars were turbo and I never used a front plate , so it wouldn't block the intercooler , never been stopped once !
