just got the new pioneer avic-d1 nav system, a wire needs to be hooked up to

the "speed detection curcuit lead" any one know it is located or where i can get a wiring diagram ?

I have the same system. Try it without hooking up the VSS wire. Mine works fine. Also the reverse light hookup is so far as I can see, a waste of time. The navigation is right on target, and the vehicle dynamics work fine as well.

I've been studying this VSS thing for some time. I came across a Shaker wiring diagram that showed Pin 14 as a connection to the VSS; then others (on another board, I believe) have posted that there is no wire connected to Pin 14 on the Mustang Shaker system. Then, I saw on another board where a Ford technician stated that the Mustang does not even have a VSS. At any rate, as he posted above, Axslynger has paved the way for those of us interested in the AVIC-D1 and has shown that all functions of it do indeed work great without connecting either the VSS or reverse light wires.
