Your replacement is definitely awesome and also a huge upgrade over your previous 06.. Although It still sucks what happened to it, but what matters most is that you weren't seriously injured and now get to enjoy your Shelby GT500

Look close in the back ground just above the car ... there she is.

Well not exactly.

The '06 had a GT500 driveline in it. Basically the same car, except the '06 was lighter :/

I am glad I wasn't ended that day... my car saved me pretty much.

I stand corrected then, as I didn't know what the 06 had in it.. So although it had the GT500 driveline, your 06 was still lighter, as I'm assuming it still had the all aluminum 4.6 3v ?

I'm also glad that you made it out okay as well.. As Ford sure did such a fantastic job when they designed our cars, especially when it concerns safety

No it had the 5.4 engine with the iron block.

But the actual cars pre '07 were lighter than the '07-up cars.

Ford added additional bracing for the 5.4 engine so they strengthened the unibody to accommodate it.

I added a full subframe system on my 06 to account for the extra bracing. It was probably close to the '07 weight-wise but not quite as heavy.

Yeah the only thing that the car really hurt me with was the lower dash. I'm 6'1" so my knees bashed the lower portion pretty good.

The rest of the injury was me holding on to the wheel. Pulled my shoulder pretty badly and messed up my hand/fingers.

Close ..... but the stripes are Silver Metallic (from Graphic Express) over the Dark Candy Apple paint (Ford oem). It was a really bright sun earlier in the day, might still have been when this was took.

Now that I know that you did a 4.6 to 5.4 swap and also added the bracing/full subframe, then yes I agree that your 06 was pretty close to 07 weight, but just as you said, not quite as heavy..

I also know what you mean about the lower dash, as Ford could had done a much better job with the interior design.. Despite the S197's size, interior space was horrible and I'm only 5"6 lol.

Anyway once again, I'm really glad that you weren't seriously injured from the accident and that your part of the Mustang community

I'm also color blind as well Redfire was also the OEM color until Ford changed over to Dark Candy Apple Red in either 08 or 09, if my memory serves correct lol.

Love my S197

Love mine. Never had a car this long and still loved it. Usually, I'm looking to trade within 3-6 months of ownership.

Mods coming in the near future: Installing my 4.10 rear, getting Steeda's stage 3 Mustang Handling Package this summer, GT500 brakes this fall, my stripes removed (getting old, need replacement) within the next few weeks, and probably over this summer getting a new hood. Thinking Cervini's Stalker 2 Ram Air with Shelby hood pins. After I get the hood, I'll see about re-striping.

Thanks Ford4V429! I had heard the production numbers were low for 2006 convertible GTs in that color combo but had no idea they were THAT low - pretty cool! Thanks again.
