Every time I drive the car, after its well warmed up, usually at slow speeds (maybe cause I can just hear better then), when turning the wheel, I hear a whining sound. It sounds exactly like a car that is low on power steering fluid! But its not low. I hear it when I am pulling into the garage, or moving around slow in the parking lot, when turning the wheel. I read one thread a long time ago, someone was describing that same sound, and they said it was the rear end fluid. They said it was really thin fluid. They changed the fluid and the sound went away. I dont understand how turning the wheel sounds can be related to rear end though??? I told the dealer, and that is when they did the front end TSB, and when I got it back the sound was still there.

Anybody else have this sound? What could it be?

I've only noticed it when I'm going reverse and turning slowly. It sounds just like you described. I don't hear it much when going forward though.
I haven't thought much of it, I had a Ranger that did this alot worse, but was normal. It might be a Ford thing.

I have this issue. There is another thread about it somewhere.

Could you find the other thread? I have searched and cant find anything...

Glad I am not the only one... Would like to know what causes it. Seems like I can hear it even better when its wet out for some reason. ??

I had a similar sound when turning the steering wheel. Mine was more like a rubbing sound. When I checked under the hood, the power steering fluid was half full. I took it to the dealer and they changed out the rack and pinion. Hope this helps.
