Vert question

I test drove a 2006 Vista Blue GT Vert today and after I was done, the sale rep and I put the top back up and locked it down. I went to put the windows up and I used the express feature and the windows went up....and then back down again.

This went on for three cycles and then we re-opened the top and shut it again....tried closing the windows and got the same thing.

Then I didn't use the express window and did get them to stay up, but the small windows in the back were still down.

Has this happend to anyone else or does anyone know what might have caused this?

Strange, but the small windows in the back you have to roll up w/ the switch since, there are no sensors telling it the latches are done locking. They only go down automaticlly w/ the front when you open the top.

If the back windows are not up, the fronts go up ..... and back down. Put the rears up first.

Agreed. If the rear windows are not up the fronts don't "seat" correctly and they bounce back. I always put the rears up first, never have the fronts bounce back.

Not on mine. I put the fronts up just fine, then the rear. Sounds like a switch/sensor alignment problem.

There is a third switch aft and center of the front two.

Hasta Lavista agrees and 2k5gtc does not any other input as at least one of us, probably two, have a problem.

Ahhhh, that's right! I remember seeing that and thinking, "What's that for???" The sales rep told me to just hold the window switches up and they would roll up....

Thanks for the help!

Gotta tell you, that was the first 'vert I've ever driven...I don't think I'll be getting another coupe....unbelieveable feeling! The sale rep let me get on it a little too...got it up to 85 mph without knowing...I actually saw him grip the door, which is what made me look at how fast I was going...

Gotta love the rumble of an 8!

2k5gtc didn't say his windows bounce if the rears are put up first, just he always puts the fronts up first.

When I first got the car and they bounced all the time I did the reset procedure in the manual, of course with the rears up. Perhaps if I did it with the rears down it would be a different story.

However, I actually prefer this behavior. It reminds me to put the rears up which I have been known to forget to do.

It's easy to forget about the rear windows, so I think that's what this little feature is all about. I have left them down accidentally once, but usually the front windows won't let me get away with it. If you use the single button to put up the rear windows first, then the fronts don't bounce back when you hold the button up for the fronts.

Not on mine either. I can put the front and rear windows up in any order.

i have to put the rears up first.

since the rears are smaller, i push the auto up for the fronts, and pull the manual up for the rears. the rears win the race, and the front windows stay up

What he said was he does not have the bounceback if he puts the fronts up first, we do. One of the scenarios is wrong.

I also have no problem putting the windows up in either order.

I have put just the front windows up with the express when the backs are down and it's fine

And i have put the fronts up with express when the backs were already up.

When i want to get them all up I usually pull the fronts once to get them going then hold the backs, which usually win.

On another windows note... you can use the top button as an express ALL down button. Just press it until the windows start moving and let go. (This only works if you are going slow enough.)

I have no problems with this either. I typically hit the auto-up on both front windows first, then put the rear windows up. The front windows do not go back down on mine, never have. I wonder if this is something that changed somewhere along the line, mine is an early '05.

I always put the front windows up first and don't have any problems. There was one incidence that the front windows went up and then right back down, but it hasn't happened again(knock on wood). I think it was just a glitch.

Actually i have had a problem with the auto up when at speed on the freeway with the rears up... i've had to open the rears to get the fronts to stay up. then put up the rears.
