Does anybody know what kind of differential the V6 base Mustang has ?
I'm not reffering to the optional antiskid with abs...
Is it some kind of limited slip or locked differential ?

 

No, the V6 differential is not a limited slip diff. or locked in any way for that matter (to my knowlege).

 

Does the V6 have a different differential if you have the ABS?

 

No, I'm pretty sure that they use the same 7.5 inch diff. in all V6's no matter what the options.

You can easily swap out the open differential with a Ford Motorsport Traction-Lok # M-4204-C75. Typically you can find one from an online vendor for under $200.00. I friend of mine builds differentials and he did the swap for me for around $50 (I brought just the axle assy. to him).

With less than 100 miles, it was the first thing I did on my 2004 and again it would be if I were to get a 2005+. Perfomance tires (BFG KDWS 225/55), Magnaflow Dual Exhaust, and B&M Ripper Shifter also went in at the same time.

 

Interesting, was your 04 a V6?

And I was thinking about getting the BFG KDWS tires as well. How do you like them?
