I know we don't see them down here often, but they use an ice scraper. Nylon bristles on one side, hard plastic 'chisel' on the other. Brush the snow off the glass, use the 'chisel' to remove the parts frozen on the glass. The rest blows off. When it's 24degrees outside, you don't stand out there to clean the whole car. hmm good question- i'm sorta curious myself- cuz most of you guys could probably get away with letting the snow "blow" off as you drive, but places like where i live- in germany- its a friggin LAW that if you have snow on your car- it has to be completely removed- you have to have no snow or ice on your car whatsoever.... so... how would you remove it without scratching the paint???

I believe it's a law here too in Pennsylvania. The snow can drift off to a car behind you & cause an accident. Don't know if it will work, but I plan to wipe the snow off the car with those drying & dusting mitts they have for polishing (soft lambs wool like) so I don't scratch the body. I won't put a brush to her. I'll just use a scrapper & de-icer on the windows.

Your not! And stay away from those stiff bristles ones on your paint, they ok to use on glass. On the dailys I use a soft carwash brush with a four foot handle for the snow removal. Have one in both dailys. The ice is scraped from windows with a hard sloted scraper, the flip end has the nylon bristles to brush away the snow and lossen ice. As a second choice, you can let the vehicle warm up till the ice melts. The lower the temps the longer that will take, like from five to fifteen minutes. Never scrape ice from a painted area, use only on glass. There will be light scratches from the dirt that is already on the car. So if you are that concerned about a certain car in the North, they sit stored like ours do. Salt is very corrosive to unfinished parts and will even break down the painted ones over a long period of time.

You should have a good idea of whats happening here in the cold cold north.

The car blowing away isn't the problem. It's when everyone in the neighborhood looses their shingles off their roofs. Nothing like super-heavy-grit sandpaper being blown into and across your car at 100mph. Lots of paint jobs and glass, no flip-overs that I know of.

Our garage door broke last year so I was lucky enough to have a hurricane proof door installed. But if the winds reach 100mph, I think I'd be more worried about the walls caving in more than the garage door flying off. Luckily they only reached 80mph where I am

Just got 3 inches of snow today. No big deal for me cause I put Michelin X ice tires on my car. Plowed through the snow like it was nothing.
