Sirius

I have heard conflicting reports on this issue. I know the 2004 Stang had a Sirius head unit radio, but I have heard conflicting reports on the 2005 Stang Shaker 500 and 1000 if they support the Sirius satellite radio. I think it would be odd that a 2004 offering would not be included on a 2005 Stang....
Anyone have firm answer on this one?
Thanks!

"Here comes the news, would you like to sing a soooooooooong!"
I LOVE Howard Stern -- funny stuff for 5 hours every morning, even on a slow day. He's the only reason I will go with Sirius since Chicago gets already great radio reception.

Ok, the radio head unit will need a SEPARATE Sirius adaptor like you see in some ford commercials recently for some new Sirius offer they have going on with the Focus and the Sport Trac or some truck. The unit does mount on the dash or wherever you want, but it is not a clean install -- you will be looking at another electrical unit thingy in your car.

Autothing...............thanks for your input. However, after reading the various comments re Sirus radio I am confused. Some say it's ready, needs only an antennae...........this seems highly unlikely since Ford would have given it as one of it's features ie Sirus ready. Rather, I'm inclined to think one has to replace the orig tuner with an ugly/incompatible looking aftermarket unit eg Pioneer, or add on an equally ugly/unacceptable tuner to the dash or wherever.
Why in the world would Ford redesign a 25 yr old platform and not even offer this soon to be standard feature in the 05 Mustang.................bewildered, and may force my desision to buy a G 35 coupe that is sat ready, or for $400 you get the entire system.

Sirius only needs the antenna added and the account activated. All Ford premium stereos have Sirius capeability from the factory, there are no visible add-ons needed.

I think the new gen stuff may not be. The standard premium sound systems from 03-04 models(and most of the suv's still use them) were integrated. The new style starting with the F-series and Ranger in 04( the delphi systems, and the same that the 05 stangs come with) do not look to be compatible without an adapter.

Thanks for keeping on top of it guys. I went to a Ford Dealer in Pleseantville, NY and they did not know (my guess). First the salesman said they install a new head unit. My response was "you will replace the shaker head unit" then he said they they install a unit in the rear that is wired to the existing unit...basically, he didnt know.
Also, he said they don't even expect a first shipment till January.......
I am waiting for the Vert.....
I am interested in what Delphi said Paris MkVI.

No response yet from Delphi; I'll keep checking.
Thanks for that info, Kevin. I imagine Delphi will confirm. I have also asked Delphi about the AUX connectivity and functionality, so hopefully we'll get some more specific info on that as well.

I am a long-time lurker and first-time poster. I spoke with an engineer at Delphi who told me that the Shaker is NOT satellite ready and that the AUX button cannot be used for satellite. He said the only way to do it was aftermarket which would require the mounting of the separate head unit, along with a 2 inch exterior antenna. Although I don't know the ins and out of the technology entirely, it appears that is the only way (he did say that Kendwood is coming out with smaller units for Sirius around Christmas.

Hey Houston, welcome and thanks for that info. I imagine what I get from Delphi will confirm that too. Will still post to get info about the the AUX input on the forum.

Well, folks, here's the news, and it is not at all what I expected. . .
Thank you for contacting delphi.com.
Delphi is not the supplier for the 2005 Mustang radio. Please contact your Ford Dealer for more information.
Sincerely,
delphi.com Customer Service
Apparently, the Dhaker systems are coming from another supplier. My understanding from the beginning was that Delphi was supplying these Shaker units, but apparently not.
That might explain why sat radio compatability went away.

The AUX input should still be able to be used for your audio input from the satellite tuner, but unfortunately it looks like you would need a seperate tuner.
Weren't the former Mach audio systems built by Audiovox? You might want to try them to see if they are the supplier.
