Selling my mustang - good asking price?

I have a 2008 mustang 4l v6, 149000 km. I'm planing on selling, want to upgrade to a newer mustang. It has the premium, pony, interior and sports packages. I'd like like to know what a good asking price would be.I'll post a pic of what it looks like now and list the parts i plan on buying next week.

SpeedForm Fixed Black Antenna - 8 in
Raxiom DRL Projector Headlight - Black
Raxiom Gen5 Tail Lights
MMD Chin Spoiler
SpeedForm Side Scoops - Pre-painted

I just posted this on another site and it was deleted. I'm not selling it here. I'm planing on selling it in my province on kijiji

And possibly MMD Eleanor Style Scoops - Pre-painted

Probably the best way to find out the prices in your area is to check Autotrader, and other used car sale sites. Also, www.kbb.com can give you a ball park figure. Good luck with the sale.

It only gives you the price for base models. It doesn't factor in packages, options and custom mods.

Maybe in Canadian looneys. My 2005 GT Premium Convertible is only showing a $4000 trade in $6200 retail price. These cars are getting old and unfortunately, they ain't collectibles.

I'd never do a trade in, it's kind of like going to a pawn shop. Your're always going to get screwed.

Unfortunately sad, but true

:agree: Definitely much better off selling outright.

stop by a car max and see what they will offer you. Then add a few grand on top of that. Mods on a car do not usually bring any extra cash over a normal stock car.

I'm not adding performance mods, just mods to modernize/safety mods like upgraded head & tail lights, touchscreen, Bluetooth, hands free calling, a couple aesthetic mods nothing crazy though. Useful mods that can be used on a daily basis. I don't expect it to drastically change the price, just want to entice people to choose mine over another.

Actually, performance mods can hurt when selling over a bone stock car. The reason? when it comes to modded vehicles, the first thing a potential buyer takes into consideration is whether or not the vehicle was either abused or ran into the ground by the previous owner.

Google "appraise my used car" and you will get a list of on-line value tools; most of them do account for options, condition, mileage, etc.

Where is "kijiji" ? Location could make a big difference, and most of the on-line value tools account for that also.

Keep in mind, the result from those tools is just a rough idea; any car is worth whatever a buyer is willing to pay for it, no more and no less . . . But the on-line tools will give you an idea of the range of prices. As a seller you want to shoot for the top of the range, and of course the buyers will want to pay the bottom of the range.

kijiji is a buy/sell site in Canada. From all the sites I've used $7500-$8000 cad seems to be the going rate for a base model. Mine is the premium version w/ pony package and interior upgrade package. I'm not sure how much value these packages add, I'm thinking a few thousand but i could be completely off. Also I'm adding a couple upgrades, Raxiom DRL Projector Headlights, Raxiom Gen5 Tail Lights and touch screen with bluetooth etc.. I'm also thinking about buying a chin spoiler and side scoops but not sure if they'd add any value.

many of the tools that Google can find for you, do have checkboxes for options . . . they don't call them the "pony package" or "premium package", but they do cover the contents of the package, such as leather seats, upgraded stereo system, painted aluminum wheels, ....

I'm thinking the Pony and Premium packages probably add $1-2K in value, and the other aftermarket mods probably don't add anything, except maybe a competitive edge over the other cars, like you said earlier
