is it safe to reinstall my tune after warranty service?
 

Had a bad battery and a cruddy shifter. Dealership replaced these under warranty and performed the airbag reprogramming.

I removed my intake and tune before taking it in just to avoid causing any trouble.

There's no reason I can't just stick them back on, right?

Also, which way does the mass air meter go in? Shiny side up or down or doesn't matter?

There should be no reason why you cannot re-install the tune. I do it every time I come back from a Ford Dealership. I believe the shiny side is up and the black side down which would make sense has the opening for the mass air meter is on the black side. You might want to get the opinion on a few others regarding the mass air meter.

For the airbag reprogaming there shouldn't be any problem, but be careful about re-installing a tune any time after getting your car back from being serviced at the dealership. If the dealership tech flashes you PCM with a new code your car will not start. After getting your car back first check to see that the same code is still in the PCM. If it has been changed you will need to get in touch with your tuner and get an update.

As for the mass air flow sensor, there should be an arrow on it indicating the direction of air flow.

I have to say that I never properly appreciated the difference that tune made. The car is simply a whole different animal with just a simple tune.

I can't imagine why I bought the car in the first place based on how tame and boring it is without one.

i recently had my car at the service department for some warrantee issues and i told the service manager about 5 times.......the strategy code on this car is (insert code here). i also put a huge sign that i printed out on the compter on the center console

assuming the code doesnt change, if the tune is installed after the service and needs to go back in, wouldn't removing the tune just look like a 'dead battery' or 'loss of power' in the computer diagnostics?

I have taken my car to the dealer for Oil changes 3 timesand 15k check-up. Strut fix and airbag recall. all with CAI and tune in place. No issues :dunno:

some dealerships are more anal, and see the tune, as a warranty voiding offense.
