I've read a couple of posts awhile back from what sounded like knowledgable sources on breaking in a new Pony...

Basically how to drive for the first couple of thousand miles....

Now, what would you suggest for ordering from a dealer 10 hours away?
Can you have it re-located from the AAI plant?
Sent to another location?
To another dealer closer to you on the standard Ford delivery semi?

Truck it home and drive it around town for a few months?

Drive it home and vary your speed, gears?
Stop every 100 miles and play with some fast starts off the line?
Up/down the exit/entrance ramps every couple hundred miles?

I ran into the suggestion in another post about ordering from a competent dealer
but the distance might be an issue if you're driving the Pony home and need to
do alot of highway miles at a set speed...

I may also have a dilema in that I may be moving x-country and I'm thinking
about flying back and driving my new V6 back home... about 18 hours of
interstate if I drive it in one continuous strip...

My V6 order was in the system before Ford pulled the first ones in May (June?)...

BTW: I will wait... for the V6 manual to be built... there is not another choice!

You seem pretty knowledgable about the V6 manual delay, could you explain what the hold up is?

im in the same situation

My advice is to buy your car from a dealer that is located near where you will be living. If you have any significant warranty problems with the car, Ford can insist that the selling dealer resolve the problems.

If you have already ordered that car from a dealer near your old home, you may want to check and see if your order can be transferred to a dealer near your new home.

Its mostly here-say from the BON site that hasn't gotten much good press here...

A couple of knowledgeable sources indicated that the "temporary delay" that I received from my dealer (and others also) stated that there was an issue with the V6 and manual tranny, a sensor from what I recall...

The BON site lists a new build schedule to begin on the V6 manual as 11/29 I think?

Thats all I know and nothing has been confirmed here so the 11/29 date may just be more garbage coming BON... Just don't know... but I'll wait...

so V10 ..... you don't think driving 18 hours straight in my new V6 is good....

My dealer is about 200 miles away. Hopefully, I can get service locally.
