This is my 4th new Ford since I've been driving, but it's my first Mustang. I read posts in this forum for 5 months before I received my car - ordered 08/05, picked up 01/16/06. I don't remember reading how insane this car makes a person. It was about 45 degrees and rainy here and I was out washing the first two weeks of dirt off the car.

Of course, I also had to wash my wife's Wrangler when I finished mine (can't show favoritism)

Is this normal? Will I continue to ignore my own health to take care of this car and keep it clean?

Yes, that behavior is normal. The next step is to buy an innocent aftermarket part or detailing piece and before you know it you'll have a "to buy" list for your car.

You'll forget about everything including your wife, house, children, etc. You can watch the bank account drain in front of your eyes with all the modifications that are available and the one you'll do. Especially during tax season, the whole check you get, right towards modifcations.

heck I work at a dealer, I can wash it indoors with hot water in 20 degree weather. Full compressed air to dry, powerwasher with deionized water, 20 chamois in a bucket, all the detail goodies, and I don't even need to clean up after myself I just washed it again 10 minutes ago. So that makes, today, last thursday, tuesday, saturday, thursday....

What we really need to do is get a help line for the signifigant others in our life. I know my wife thinks I'm a nutjob when it comes to my Mustang

Haha, I saw a Black Mustang GT driving in Chicago today with the weather you mentioned. I felt bad for the guy Terrible weather we're having in this area.

It was raining here today and I left it in the garage.
I even look forward to going to work nowdays because I get to drive the stang...of course, that also means I want to leave work early.

Funny you mention this. I woke up this morning and timed it so I could wash, claybar, wash again, and wax the car before the rain started. It was still in the high 30s when I started and the water was kind of chunky, but I got dried it off and pulled it in the garage just before the rain started. I left my door open to the house just so I could get it warm enough in there to wax (above 45). Two coats of Zaino later, it sure does look great. Too bad it is going to rain here for the next few days, but at least it will be protected. So don't feel bad, I blew 6 hours today on mine and I am sure anyone that saw me thought I was nuts! Since I got it, I think I have washed it about 3 times a week, and I am definitley more obsessive about this car than any I've had before. :worship: :worship: :worship:

Ive spent over a week of evenings under mine already, and still havent gotten any wax on it yet(waiting for warmer weather- cant see well enough in the garage after dark...). tonight I took drivers door apart to POR15 down in the bottom crimp...happy to report, Ford sealed this pretty darn well at the factory(inside/bottom of door).
However...already seeing signs of dirt/salt on underside of door- at crimp edge. I would suggest taping 1/8 inch above and below crimp edge, brush/roll on some bedliner to keep stuff out of there. inside door is likely fine. I'm taking out the drain covers on rear drains...no idea why theyre blocking those holes...I really dont want a black stripe on underside crimp, but better that now than rust later. I cant wait till summer- today in Ohio was a tease...58 and sunny...coulda waxed the car, but instead put another 150 miles on it. washed yesterday and tonight again.

It might be normal, but you could be sick and twisted. Check out my pole here:

Washing, waxing, etc is only the first stage, as someone has mentioned, looks like you may be entering the next stage of addiction: THE MOD ZONE
