Part #'s cross for me, and the motorcraft ones are actually cheaper, wow.
It the difference in the gap's listed that has me worried
SP462 Spark Plug Retail 17.65 Cost 7.15 Gap .054 ?
HT1 Spark Plug Retail 22.18 Cost 8.94 Gap .045 ?
OE Style; REVOLUTION HT is specifically designed for the
Ford Triton 3 valve Eng design

Stock plugs s/b Autolite HT1
HT1s are Autolite ,SP462 are Motorcraft. Same plug, but the gap may be a hair different. I believe HT1 s/b .045 and SP462 s/b .054
Both are 2 piece plugs.

Hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question, but could our 3v heads be swapped for 4v heads from the 03/04 Mach 1. That's providing their compatible

Plugs
I believe the only choice for a 1 piece design plug are Brisk and Champion (#7989). The Champions are double platinum and should last a very long time. You can see the Champions @ sparkplugs.com.

Has anyone tried the new Champion plugs to see how they run in our cars???
I'm still scared to remove my stock plugs but I know that it has to be done sooner or later.

Yeah me neither. Also never been a fan of plugs blowing out of the head. This isn't the first time Ford has had a issue regarding spark plugs. You would think they would have learned their lesson by now but it seems not. I already had one of their spark plug issues cost me 6k to get fixed. This time I purchased the extended warranty and they will pay for it this time around.

What are the details on the blowout?
Over 150 dollars for a set of plugs is ridiculous. (Almost as ridiculous as using a flawed design for years.) Are the OEMs regular platinum. I got the iridium NGK plugs for my stealth and they were just like 6 bucks a piece. So the champion plugs would carry the same change interval as the stockers?

Alos regardless of what plug you use iridium or pltinum do not leave them in the car for more than 50k. Plugs do not last 100k I can assure you. And some when you try to get them out at 100k won't come out

I'm thinking about changing my plugs but I am a bit concerned after reading all the posts about the plugs breaking off in the head when removing them. My car has 60,000km (which I think is approx 38,000 miles). Do you think there would be too much carbon build up by now and cause them to break? I am use to working on older vehicles where this has never been a problem.
