my daily driver is dead.....should my mustang replace it?
I say sell the Mustang.
Joke!
Definitely fix the DD, keep the dream alive.
FWIW, I lived with my 2005 in Brooklyn and Manhattan for 3 years, keeping it street parked for most of that time. Not the easiest way to care for a Mustang, but its doable.

Looks like i'm a little late to the thread but I had a similar situation. Had a '96 Monte Carlo LS that had brake line problems and some electrical gremlins, amonst other small problems that added up and wouldn't let me pass a Virginia state inspection. It was good enough for my native NY, but Northern VA inspectors **** their pants when they see surface rust. Anyway, I didn't have the time or money to fix it then so I decided to sell it. Turns out the guy that bought it fixed the brakes, the electrics, and even the non-functional ABS and A/C. Said it was actually pretty easy and loves the car. Not a problem since.
But when you have an old car like this, its always a big gamble. Is this the first of many more repairs or is it the last you'll see for another 20,000 miles? Its always a tough choice.
It'd be really nice to have the Monte now to fall back on with bad weather or traffic, big errands that you need a big car for. Glad you fixed the Marquis, I think you made the right decision.

So glad you could get the beater fixed. Keep that Mustang for the fun times.... I was in Manhattan on Thursday and even the thought of driving it there makes me crazy, let alone driving my CAR there. (Personally I took the train). Those NYC taxi drivers are just insane.
Man, good thing you fixed the beater. Judging by the way you treat your Mustang, I don't think you would've been happy using it as a DD.
When i bought my CS I thought about driving the 01 v6 every day and keeping the CS for the weekends. But, I'm a little different in that department in that I'm the kind of guy that I like to enjoy my cars rain or shine each and every day. The result? I haven't driven the v6 in about 8 months since I've bought the CS. Though I love each second I'm in it, it's def. not good for mileage as I have almost 15k on a car I bought brand new not even a year ago.
I think it's all about how you like to enjoy your Mustang. Some enjoy it on the weekends and on sunny days, and others just drive it all of the time.
Whatever happens, one thing is for sure. Try not ever sell the Stang (unless it's for another one
)!!
