I believe Motor Trend broke the first real story of the 05 Stang.

Which mainstream magazine do you think will be the first to provide a story with a real test, and when?

maybe car and driver. about 1 or 2 months before release? or when they can be preordered?. thats my guess

I think MT will be 1st. CD tests on the Mach's 1/4 mi. time is about 0.5 sec. slower then MT's. Look for Mustangs and Fast Fords to have the fastest and maybe the truest times. I think we'll see these tests within a few months. Any predictions??? How about 0-60 in 5.3 (BFG's or Pirelli's??) and the 1/4 in 13.8 @103mph. I think the 17" wheels will be slightly faster then the 18" wheels the MT has some good gear ratios so the car should move. :nice:

I predict times around 13.2 or 13.3 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Remember it is underrated, it has about 330HP at the fly. err, its rumored to be underrated by a very reliable source. :-D Anyways, the Mach1 is also underrated and it gets about 13.2 times in the 1/4 mile. So i am assuming it'll get times similar to the mach 1. About 13.3. :jester:

my prediction is 13.2-13.3 in the 1/4(this is assuming a good driver, not some C&D jackass) and 5 flat 0-60.

I remember reading one where they only went 40MPH, is that the one? I think the guys at Autoweek also got to ride in one, but only at low speeds.

MM&FF will have a pretty accurate test on the 05...motor trend tends to baby it...id expect to see like a 13.6 quarter mile...13.2's/3's are kinda low for the weight and all...im just glad they had guys that love muscle cars working on this engine...the team was supposed to be amazing...and they really worked hard on getting it to sound just right. I think they will sell out the first year...

MM&FF rated the mach1 vs Bullitt vs 02 cobra. the Mach 1 beat them all with a 0-60 time of 4.9sec...

I am really interested in who the "reliable source" is that got the dyno info on the 05 Stang. I heard it dyno'd at 280rwhp making it a 320hp motor. That would be great if it is true. I really am hoping that when M&FF test it that they put it on a dyno and publish what results they get from a dyno test. They want to sell mags so they probably will do this---------

Have any magazines come out directly and said 'the mach1 is underated' or the '03 Cobra is underated'?

I still see magazines publish the factory stats:
305 and 390 respectively.
