mrkabc, Did you use the oem lens or the clear one that came with the new unit. I am worried the OEM lense will not let it look like they are LEDS since its not a clear lens.

That's not carbon. That's the tungsten that has vaporized from the filament, but it does mean the bulb isn't going to last very long.
