I saw a magazine (Car and Driver maybe?) late last year and saw a picture of awesome car, and thought "wow, that looks real sharp. So sharp that I want it!" I thought it would have been a european car (by the angle that the picture was taken) but low and behold it was a Mustang! So, I knew it would be affordable.

I decided that was my next car. Having wanted a Mustang ever since I saw Matt Denning driving a '66 throughout high school, and then seeing a 5.0 and falling in love with it (waaayy before the Vanilla Ice reference) and then having my 2nd roommate in college having a 5.0 '90, but never letting me drive it, even when he was "housed".

This is it. I want it, and it's mine! I bought the diecast models of the Coupe and GT convertible Mustang. I looked at this site day and night for glimpses and pictures of the '05. I have numerous '05 calendars. People at work are anxiously awaiting it as well. They kind of care for my happiness (which is nice of them).

So, to put it bluntly, I ordered sight unseen, and I'm happy with that decision. You can't test drive your dreams.

I've wanted one ever since I saw the prototype, but I've only ever seen teh prototype close up and I didn't like the interior at all.

I live in canada, and I'm 95% sure that I'm buying one, however I have to drive it first, I'm not parting with $40,000 of my money based on some pictures and what other people think about it.

The Mustang is "Americana" at its finest. Freedom, Liberty, Honor, Pride, Glory, all wrapped up in a V8 300HP, RWD fun machine. At 25-30K what more can you ask for. #102052, Torch Red GT Loaded, I'M waiting for baby.

Wow …

These thoughts echo my own. The only thing that stops me from ordering now is some financial affairs to get in order before I commit to $25k +.

I can relate to “Mustang or nothing”. I read “How to buy a new car” articles. They start on how to narrow down your selection. I always think, “There is no selection, I want a Mustang”!

I bought my last Mustang new in 2000. I hesitated because I had been set on the ’98 body style, and there were a few things about the 2000 I didn’t like. I was in a quandary - either a used ’98 or a new 2000. Then my wife said - in her infinite wisdom - “Fall in love or get over it”. That sealed the deal for me. I’d rather have a Mustang with things I don’t quite like over any other car. Within a couple of months, I did love everything about the new look, and the pre-1999 styles started to look dated.

My first look at the ’05 left me with some areas I didn’t like - very few - but many areas that actually got my pulse racing. The last time a picture got me that excited I was 16 and could only look at it with a flashlight. Now, there’s nothing much left that hasn’t grown on me. I like this styling MUCH more initially than I ever did with the 2000. And being 47, I love the connection back to my youth. What a mixture of today’s technology and styling with a solid connection to the Mustang’s roots.

I just hope the first one I see in person holds true to all the visions in my head. Thanks for the thoughtful responses.
Your quote about the picture and the flashlight HAS TO BE THE LINE OF THE DAY!!!

ROTFLMAO!!!! :worship:

Well I ordered mine with having only seen pictures of them. Although my Uncle said he saw one at the 100th anviersity party but I'm not sure I would take his word. As for me personally not likeing it I don't really have a choice.

See I have a 2003 with less than 13000 miles on it & already have had 6 rear main seals, 4 weather stripping seals, & the hood repainted. So, I sent a letter & application to Ford for a vehicle replacement & they accepted. So, my dealer looked but couldn't find any 2004's that hadn't been on the lot for less than 6 months.

So, the dealer called MI & got an extension on my 30 day limit & I ordered. I ordered last Wed. & called today & they said they called again & Ford said it should be about 4 weeks.

:drive:

But either way I really wanted one although it didn't seem like I was going to be able to afford one for a year or so. Besides this will be my 5th Pony. The only generation Pony I haven't had would be the 80 whatever's. The boxy ones before the 1994 redesign. I just don't like thouse. To me they don't look like a Mustang. But that's just me.

Ok, I have rambeled long enough. Laters guys.

Well, I am giving away my 99' Mustang and thought the 2005 was a grrrrrrreat excuse. More importantly, which came first: the chicken or the egg?

I had to sell my 86 5.0 with 265,000 miles on it to make room in the garage for the 05 GT that I ordered in June.

My 05 will be parked next to my 67 Mustang Fastback 390 GT. I ordered it because I like the retro style, but the 05 will have less horses

My father worked for Ford for 30 yrs. Didn't say so but know he was disappointed my first car was an RX-7(great car). I now drive a 97 Maxima, which has also been a very good car. That said, I ordered the 05 in June after seeing pictures, reading what previews there were, and reading this site daily. I have confidence in Ford with what is at stake, it has more power than anything I've driven, it has enough amenities for me, it is a good price esp. with AZ plan vs. the alternatives I was considering, had a 95 Explorer that held up well, Ford again has a car I'm really excited about, and one for my dad.

dapmustang, great question ! It's interesting because some people find it hard to believe that a person would order a car without knowing the price, or having driven it. I wish I could have been one of the lucky few to drive one at the Innovation Drive, and I would have gone to great lengths to do so, but the dates and locations did not work out for me.

The main reason that I ordered one sight unseen is because I have great faith in Ford to deliver the car of my dreams. I was hooked the moment I saw a picture of the 2005 model on the internet last year. The 2005 instantly brought back memories of my 1966 mustang - which was the best car I ever had. After reading about the car, and looking at pictures of the new design, I was certain that it was the car for me. I ordered as soon as the order banks opened in May, and have not looked back. I was fortunate that my family supports it, and that I could re-arrange my car-life to wait for it to arrive (hopefully soon !).

Here is my biggest expectation, and I am hoping against hope that it comes true. I hope that the 2005 model can duplicate (or enhance) that feeling that I had when driving the 1966 Mustang. It was a feeling that came from the arrangement of the seat, wheel and center console compared to the dash, hood and side doors. It felt safe, and it provided a sense of control. With regard to the other aspects, I know that it will whomp my old '66 with respect to comfort, power, safety and handling.

I can't wait .. Ford Bring It On !!!

Ordered. Never seen the car in person - no worries at all. My only mistake is not ordering sooner. A 300 horsepower fully loaded car for ~$27k?

I was ready to buy one when I saw the prototype at the 2003 Cleveland Auto Show... the rep there told me 16 months, which put me at around June of this year, at which time I started doing some reasearch, finding this site and Stangnet, and eventually ordering on Aug 9...
... Working out how to afford 26k was more like magic though.
