HHow often should I change the air in my tires?

Thinking about a regular maintenance program for this. What do you think is every 3000 miles to often or should I wait until the 7500 mile mark? Is air from a gas station ok or should I go get a air compressor? :)

JonW 8/22/10 07:17 PM

Is this really a serious question?

GTOto5point0 8/22/10 07:25 PM

If you replace the factory air with a quality performance aftermarket helium, your car will be lighter... and it will giggle occasionally.

Ministang 8/22/10 07:39 PM

Air in your tires? Nooooooo! You must use Nitrogen, and change it out regularly, every 5000 miles should do.

Definitely go to a gas station, specifically a Mobil station. They have the best air.

cdynaco 8/22/10 08:07 PM

I've been wondering the same thing about my battery acid cause I'm up to 11,000 miles. Couldn't find anything in the manual. :dunno:

:p

If you have to ask when you need to change your air, you don't deserve to be in a Mustang!

With that said, I stick to a strict 3,475.3 mile rule as to when to get new air. Anything less and you're leaving life on the table, anything more and your tires will start screaming at you.

PTRocks 8/22/10 08:24 PM

Reminds me it's almost time to change my headlight fluid.

mustangGT90210 8/22/10 08:35 PM

Better get the blinker fluid changed too, I've heard that's a b*tch on S197s!

05GT-O.C.D. 8/22/10 08:57 PM

Does anyone know how often we're supposed to grease the muffler bearings? It's a GT by the way...

houtex 8/22/10 09:01 PM

Be glad they're not Chryslers, you might need to replace one of their Turbo Encabulators.

/Watch out for those girdle springs...
//might also need to look out for sigmoid rumbling below the belt-line... that can affect gas emissions.

I recommend blinker fluid every 5k miles. Fan fluids are good till you notice the car warming up much faster than usual.

Replace the air with Co2 and your tires will run cooler.

Lime GT 8/22/10 11:45 PM

My tire air smells like a fish. Should I wait until it smells like a wet dog and change it?:poke:

BoogieNights 8/23/10 12:27 PM

You canty forget that you MUST change the air in your tires every 6 months. You have to do that so that you dont have Summer air them during the Winter and Winter air in them during the Summer. That would cause all kinds of problems if you dont have the right air in the tires. :jester:

Glenn 8/23/10 01:19 PM

see thats what I was thinking. Instead of a miles thing it should be a time thing. 6 months seems to be pushing the envelope a bit don't you think?

The Boss 302 will have a bypass valve of some sort in its exhaust. The exhaust bearings might require periodic lubrication.

PTRocks 8/23/10 03:19 PM

I still don't know if the OP is being serious....
