OK, I have been posting all over about this raffle idea to help Acadian get the money to pay off his car in hopes that the car goes to someone well deserving, and I have gotten lots of great responses in support of Acadian and obviously there is a lot here on TMS as well. I have had it mentioned to me that true gear heads would rally behind him and help him keep his car.

So heres the idea that I throw out to all of you.......
LETS HELP ACADIAN KEEP HIS CAR!!!!!!!!
There are enough people that have already responded that they would be willing to purchase tickets for as much as $50 or more, and even more that wish he could keep it, so lets all ban together and donate money to him to help him and his family out so he can keep his car. He needs $30K to pay it off and make some money back on the mods, but since the I think the main goal would be (and correct me if I am wrong here Acadian) to pay off the car for him so he can keep it and not have to worry about the extra bill every month so he can focus on using his money to pay for the things he truly needs. So lets do it. What do you all say to chipping in whatever you can to help pay off his ride? Even a buck or two would really send him on his way especially if everyone did it. And we all have known him long enough that we know that he isnt trying to scam anyone, heck if that were the case he wouldnt just be trying to sell for just enough to pay it off and even take a loss. He would just take his sweet time to sell it normally.

SO WHAT DO YOU ALL SAY? I CHALLENGE EVERYONE ON TMS AND EVERY OTHER FORUM AND CLUB AND ALL GEAR HEADS AND MUSTANG ENTHUSIASTS ALIKE TO GET THIS DONE!!!!! WE CAN DO IT!!!!

I cant help a whole lot since I am tight on cash myself but I will start if off with $20, sorry Acadian I know its not much but if my new job takes off I will up that amount as much as I can.

NOTE: This was my idea and my idea alone, Acadian has had nothing to do with this idea nor its post.

I'd be in. If we could get everyone to chip in 20-50 bucks I think we would have no problem doing this. Let's do it!

Then donate to those other charities. Please don't try to derail this one.

Now THAT is an idea - I'd be in for at least $20 - shooting for $50 though.
That's how strongly I feel about this new Mustang, the owners of this car, the people on this site, and Ian.

Don't flame me, but what about all the others on this site that have had to sell their car for financial reasons. We don't always hear about the unfortunate ones. Some just sell the car and move on. We've all gone through something similar in life. I know Ian probably won't directly benifit from the government handouts, but have you seen how much were giving New Orleans. $260,000,000,000. That's billion. Do you undertstand how much money that is. I'm actually disappointed that Ian would even consider letting others buy his car for him. Go ahead, flame away.....

First off, Ian originally posted asking what price and if someone here would be interested to purchase his car. Selling or Raffling Off (If that is even legally possible which I doubt) is one thing. To pay it off for someone out of Millions of people with financial problems in this Country, well I will stop short and leave that up to personal choice.

In the past four years I have lost over $250,000 in real monies, my Health Insurance just ran out and nothing is going to rebuild my retirement. Twenty years or more working and the savings are in the toilet. My area was the leader in unemployment and jobs going to foreign countries. Lack of work sucks in my area for Hundreds of Thousands Also. If I get lucky I can maybe work for 1/2 of what I used too, while the people at the top get a Fat Pay Increase. Maybe some group in Asia or Mexico would like too help me out.

The suggestion of paying off something that was never owned to began with? So someone can finish building a new Home? I too need the new Larger Home, like to help? I was two weeks of signing for a new Home when 9/11 came and started to destroy my Dreams and Twenty years of hard work.

I have to agree here; my personal experience is that I have earned (and sometimes subsequently lost) every single thing I have or have had in my life, with no help from anyone else.

Occasionally, I've also helped out those less fortunate when I've seen they were in a desperate situation with no way out.

In no way do I feel that helping someone is a negative thing, because I've done it myself; however, if you want to help someone, then by all means help them with whatever means you have and can afford, but--do it in private!!

Singling out one person on this board to try and start a "fundraising drive" is not only foolish (because it ignores equally deserving people who are equally in need), but also can encourage those who are, shall we say, less "scrupulous", to try to leverage that action for their own ill-gained benefit.

$260,000,000,000. That's billion. Do you undertstand how much money that is.
Let me illustrate how much that is:

If you made a THOUSAND DOLLARS A DAY, EVERY DAY, it would take nearly THREE YEARS to make a MILLION dollars.

If you made a MILLION DOLLARS A DAY, EVERY DAY it would take nearly THREE YEARS to make a BILLION DOLLARS

Multiply that by 260 and you get over SEVEN HUNDRED YEARS at a MILLION DOLLARS A DAY!!

Heck, I wouldn't mind making the THOUSAND dollars a day!!

I'll chip in 40-50 to help out! Rather put the money away to good cause rather than spend it on the ever growing prices on gas.

Ok, let me stop this before it goes any further. And Rrobello... man, I can't tell you how much I appreciate what you wanted to do. And for the ones who have posted about giving me money, I love all of you... you know that. But, I will not take your money to pay off my car. I couldn't do that. The raffle is one thing. I get the money... somebody else gets the car. But for me to get both is just not fair.

Don't get me wrong, I am flattered and down-right honored that this would be brought up. Man, I thought it was rough reading my thread about selling the car, but to read this is a tough one. I can't lie though, I'd do the same thing for one of you. But I am not going bankrupt here. I'm not that bad off. Maybe if I lost my house during the storm I could possibly entertain this idea... but under the current circumstances, I jsut could not do it.

Rrobello, what you did means more than I can say here, bro. But if you want to help me, promote the raffle if and when I go through with it... will need to figure out the legalities of doing such a thing.

Again, thank you all for your support. It means the world to me. But I just could not accept this.

Meanstang, I understand your mean... hence the name. But no need to add a letter to my screen name. The name is spelled acadian. The "r" that you conveniently slipped in is not even next to the "a" or the "c" on the keyboard. I understand that you wouldn't give me a dime... heck, I wouldn't give you one either. But seriously, no need to get childish here. :nono:

Well, if the raffle does go through and I win I'd probably sell it for a buck to this "Ian" fellow from Louisiana. And I know I'm not the only one that would do this.

ok its your car....if thats what you want, I was just throwing this out there since I was the only one thinking this same thing, I have recieved many PMs from many different boards suggesting this so I figured wed run with it, Id rather see you keep the car, but if youd prefer to raffle it then I will be behind you on this, if thats your final decision then how would you feel about making the price of the tickets a "minimum donation" so say you go with $30 then its at least a $30 donation to buy a ticket and if someone wants to give more then let them, this way you might be able to reach the total with even less people, who knows just an idea. And if you change your mind about us helping you keep your car, then say so, we were already well on our way and that was just on this site.

I would much rather give $50 to help save or raffle off acadians car....then give it to someone who knew the hurricane was coming 5 days in advance....and sat in N.O. waiting for the government to help them. Then once their home and their family members get washed away...complained that the government didn't help.

My tax money should not pay to rebuild a 2 million dollar house, a sports stadium or a floating casino. Also, my tax money shouldn't go to rebuild a city that is under sea level. You wouldn't build your house on quicksand, would you? You want to live below sea-level, do your country some good and join the Navy. The government isn't responsible for giving you anything. This is the land of the free and the home of the brave, but you gotta work for what you want. McDonalds and Walmart are always hiring, get a darn job and stop spooning off the people who are actually working for a living. I take pity on the people that left and came back to their homes gone. I really do...and I firmly believe these people should be helped, and are being helped. But I have no pity for the people who stayed in the city...and are screaming that their lives are ruined, the goverment must help, while holding a new tv that they just looted from the local walmart.

This is a mustang forum...so we are trying to help a mustang owner keep his stang. Would you ask the guys in a miata forum to help a stanger keep his car? no, its out of place.

So is criticising a sincere and generous idea/offering. If you want to raise money for hurricane victums...go start another thread.
