I'm kinda new to this. If you get a fixed Sirius receiver in your car and you have a Sirius receiver at home to, do you need to subscribe double to the service?

To add a second radio will cost you $6.99 a month.

From Sirius site:

" Listen to SIRIUS wherever you are. Subscribers save big on SIRIUS when they activate additional radios. Get up to three additional subscriptions for only $6.99 a month each. Interested? Check out our portable Plug & Play radios."

but you can use one radio in two locations for FREE. For instance_ if you have an XM sky fi, you can use it in the car or move it to the house and not be charged for two- because you have ONE unit.
If you had a skyfi in your car, and bought a second sky fi for the house so you didn't move it around- you would be charged twice.

Doesnt one of the satellite dish T.V. companies have a deal with sirius and have audio channels you can listen to at home?

Both dish companies have like a bazillion audio channels always have had. DirecTvs kinda blows, but the classic rock channel is passable.

The problem with DEALER installs is the cost - about $300 for the equipment (harness, antenna, and maybe even radio upgrade) and then about $200 for installation & labor = $500. Then, you will probably get at least a 1 year subscription to save over the $12.95/mo - and that is gonna cost about $150. So, an extra $650 out of your pocket to get it added... They need to be FACTORY installed to make it more practical (and palatable to the consumer), otherwise we will all end up with PNP's velcro-ed to our dash with cigarette lighter plug wires dangling near our cup-holders. Or, take a chance and spend some dough at BB ro CircuitCity and have their shop guys try a nice install. Or, do it yourself if you are handy...

Bottom line, DEALER installs stink (for the consumer) and FACTORY installs stink (for the dealer).

Not to be pedantic.

But his post clearly indicated he would have TWO receivers. That's why I stepped in to say there is a per receiver charge.

Thanks, I think I completely overlooked that at the Sirius site

Yeah I looked into those but I don't like the idea of having a single unit to take in and out of the car and in and out of the house all the time. Plus that there's no decent place to install it in the new Stang without it looking hideous or being totally out of reach. And the mobile ones don't have an optical output. I'd much rather just add the Sirius module to my Kenwood DDX7015.

Gotta agree with you there. I am about to shaft my car service and just keep it in the house unit. Meaning- I wont put the sky fi in my mustang. The lines in there are too clean to frig it up.
I slapped mine in without worrying about what it looked like- in truth, its fugly in there, but.......If I gotta drive something I hate, I wanted amusement. I liked that one, because in the extremely rare instance I want XM in the house, it pops out of the car and into the home unit.
I pay $17 a month I think for the sky fi home/car I have and my husbands Roady, which amazingly looks right. Three bases and two units I have.

I asked once before if anyone knew if the trunk lid was metal or composite? If it not metal you can place the antenna under the lid aqnd it will not be seen.

Just put it under the dashcover. It will look right trough. I did the same with my nav receiver and it works perfect.

I have a buddy who has XM, he put the antenna inside the car up on the rear window deck, Listens to XM all the time says he never has any signal problems.

That is a spectacular idea!!!!! I never even thought of it.

I have no signal issues- UNLESS its thick rock like Chattanooga's lookout mountain,my mother in law's- (Beacon Falls Ct seems to be a solid rock), or in the garage with the doors closed.

Since my original post was a link stating Ford had signed a deal maybe it will be simular to the DC deal I got with my 300C and Sirius radio. Fourteen months free of Sirius with factory install or dealer install. Got to love it!
