Figured out 1 reason why the doors are hard to close / open

I was applying Scotchgard to the seats and carpeting so I had the rear seats flipped down, trunk open, and both doors open. I had to close and open my driver door (which is a PITA to close/open) and it closed very very easily. It also opened much easier. Previously with all doors/panels shut, the driver door felt like it had a vacuum sucking on it preventing it from opening freely. Closing it was like trying to compress gas into a cylinder. I'd hear a thump noise coming from the trunk each time I'd close my driver door. However, now with the sealed-cabin system being un-sealed, the doors were closing/opening easier than before.

Is it possible to adjust the short-drop system so that BOTH windows roll down/up when one door is opened? This would work better than just one window doing the short-drop.

Or, do you have any ideas on how to solve this problem? I've tried "recalibrating" the windows but it didn't seem to do anything.

Hmmm...I think it's good the car is sealed so well. And I don't notice any problem closing or opening doors.

Consider yourself lucky. I was playing around with a GT/CS on the dealer lot and tried 5-6 times to close the driver door without slamming it shut.

I noticed the same thing with this driver door, but not the passenger door... HOWEVER there is a CONSIDERABLE difference in how easy it is to open/close the door if the system is unsealed. If you don't believe me, give it a try:

Open both doors. Go to one side and close the door. Open it, and close it. Repeat to get the feel for it. Now, close both doors and repeat it with 1 door. Compared to the unsealed system, I practically have to yank the door off the hinges to open it or slam it like I hate it to have it latch properly with the "sealed cabin" system.

I'm confident that if BOTH windows would short-drop upon opening 1 door, this condition would pretty much disappear altogether. The question is, how do I do it?

I also suspect the driver door window isn't dropping enough during the short-drop which can explain the hard to open condition and the hard to close condition. I'll have to try recalibrating it again.

Hmm. Interesting. Have you checked to see that your air vents in the rear quarters are not blocked/obstructed? Just a thought.

I never noticed a problem either, doors are all easy enough to open/close no matter if the other door is open or not.

Hmmm
It must mean it's a problem with how much the windows are dropping if no one else experiences the same problem.

I can't stand it when someone slams the door shut. There are times when I don't think I've pushed it enough to close it yet it closes and I've never had a problem with it opening the doors. They seem very normal to me.

Where are the air vents? The slotted/louvered things that are usually covered by the carpeted liner? The rear seats seem to block a lot of the airflow to the trunk.

It's not about airflow its about pressure equalization.

The passenger side door seems to be much easier to open/close, but still becomes ultra-Toyota-easy to close/open when I pop the trunk or open both doors.

....what are you trying to show us in the picture ?
I have been all thru my trunk putting in sound proofing and I haven't noticed any vents.

I'm not sure what you're talking about, my doors are easy to close. If you owned a Civic or something before, then yes, there will be increased effort w/ the Mustang door--but it is certainly not difficult or problematic.

silver fox that is a picture of my trunk while doing the sirius factory install. Those black boxes were explained to us as being air vents so when you open or slam the trunk the air equalizes using those flaps on the air vents. I guess he may be saying that if these are blocked or not working properly the air inside the cabin will not equalize properly, thus causing a problem to close the doors or open etc. I think thats what he is saying.

The black box that you can see in the lower right hand corner is the air vent that is in the inner rear quarter for pressure equalization. Every car now made has them. You can't see them because they are behind all the trim and the outlet is usually under the rear bumper somewhere. If you didn't have these, it would be next to impossible to shut the doors on most modern cars unless something else was open, hense a water tight seal on all of your openings.
Also, there is usally holes in the rear package tray sheetmetal that is under the rear package tray trim. This is how the air gets to the trun area from the passenger area with the seats up.

Are you talking about the black box with the "red" paint surrounding it? I thought it was the rear sidemarker.
