Does X-plan Pin require where you work?

I got a x-plan pin from a friend, and I called the dealer today and they asked me where I work at to get the x-plan pin. So I just told them I work at GE electric. Do dealers require that you work at a specific place that has x-plan or do you just need the PIn # ?

I think you just need the pin. X-Plan is for Ford employees and their family and friends. Ford hands them out like candy to the employees to hand out to their family and friends.

Thats all you need....just a PIN number. I got mine from an online site and used it last weekend. They asked where I got it and I made something up, I think the question was more out of their (the salesman) curiosity than anything else. It is the A plan that they get real nosey about since that is a bigger discount and only available to a special few.

Actually that's the "A" plan that you're talking about. The "X" plan is for partner companies. You don't have to be a Ford employee. I'm not and I got the X-plan.

Not all companies are Ford partners, so yes it does matter where you work, but I know that a lot of guys have bought Mustangs with pins that they got from somebody else. So, I guess you should be able to as well.

But the X-plan discount isn't as much as it used to be, so maybe you can swing a better deal without one.

Xplan is used by friends of Ford employees or past employees. Also if your workplace is a Ford partner you can get pins through work.

A plan is Ford employees or family. A plan pretty much is the invoice and holdback price. X plan is just under invoice.

Not impossible but you're not likely to get better than Xplan on your own.

You just need the PIN.

When I bought my Mustang, the dealer I bought it from was trying their hardest to get every dime from me, even trying to tack stuff on to the X-plan price. I can't tell you how many times they asked me where I work and how I got my PIN, even calling me a week later asking me for the PIN number again.

As long as the PIN has been attached to your SS# (from what I understand) then its assigned to you, and thats all that matters, and theres little a dealer can do about it besides not selling you the car.
