Do you carry a fire extinguisher and if so...

Where do have it mounted? Saw a nice blue one I'd like to carry somewhere, but need ideas where to mount. Thanks.

I just carry mine in the back seat. No one ever sits there.

I don't in the S197, but when I had my Shelby Cobra replica, I had a small (chromed!) one mounted to a quick release under the dash.

Mine's in the box in the passenger rear floor board. Don't feel like mounting it anywhere.

Good idea. I am going to get a small one. :nice:

ShowGT 6/21/07 06:41 PM

I carry mine in the truck mounted to the carpet with velcro right next to my Ford First Aid Kit, actually helped me win a recent show I might add. I will get a photo and post this evening.

My cars also have them in the trunk with velcro.
Just wrap them in velcro and they stick to the carpet.

My sequentials and HID's are completely tidy and fused so no, I don't carry one. If it caught on fire from a factory defect, I would rather it burned to the ground(like my RX7TT did)-an extinguisher would of done nothing.

Rapture 6/21/07 07:54 PM

I carry mine in the trunk.... Because of other ppl...not me!!!!!:banghead:

Bullitt995 6/21/07 08:10 PM

I forgot to add: The reason I have mine is because of the nitrous. Always a good reason to have a fire extinguisher.

06GT4RAD 6/21/07 09:43 PM

I carry one and mine matches the car in fact. I just keep it in a bag in the trunk.

put it in the trunk, dont be a ricer and mount it on the windshield.

kevinb120 6/21/07 10:12 PM

yea but a ricer usually needs an extinguisher handy at all times :rofl2:

When I bought my car it came with an extinguisher from FORD. It seems like this is an international option they don’t do in the States. My car came with a highly reflective orange briefcase in the trunk with Velcro on the bottom. It has Ford, Mercury, Lincoln written all over it. Inside its got an impressive first aid kit (bandages, gauze, scissors, ointments, splints, etc…). Its also got a semi-impressive tool kit, a plastic collapsible reflective caution triangle (like the Mercedes have), a tire seal and inflate kit, a tire gauge, and a red extinguisher with FORD, MERCURY, LINCOLN written all over it.

See if the case has a part number on the back :nice: It should have some sort of sticker saying first aid kit # or something to that effect

As you might know from my "Idiot ran a red and wrecked my baby" thread, my car is still recovering from the accident. I'll look it up and snap a photo or two once my baby is back from the shop. Hopefully within a day or two.

I don't have one now, but I will get one. See, for some car shows, you MUST have both a fire extinguisher and a 1st aid kit. Plus I have wanted one just incase. Hey Crucut, where did you find a blue one at? That may work for me. :nice:

RobK 6/23/07 08:07 AM

I carry a rather large one in a toolbox (by itself) in the trunk. The toolbox keeps it from rolling around. The small ones you usually find marketed to keep in your car are WAY too small to handle a car fire of any sort. At least with a large one I have a better chance at keeping it under control for a few minutes. And yes, I carry to help other folks out as well should the need arise.

DynamicmustangGT 6/23/07 05:18 PM

A few minutes? that thing will last no more than 30-40 secs used at full capacity.
