Do I need fuel stabilizer?

I'm going to be away for 2 1/2 months and wonder if I need a fuel stabilizer in my 06 GT. I've asked my son to come over and start the car (but not drive it ... we'll see how that works) once a week, but since the same tank of gas will be in it when I get back, should I get Stay-bil?

It wouldn't hurt. I typically only store my car for 3-4 months out of the year and I use it. Even if someone starts the car once in a while the gas will still go "bad".

Stay-bil wouldn't hurt, especially with the cold weather.

Maybe you should think about getting "The Club". that way your son can run the Stang but can't take it for a joy ride.

It would be cheap insurance against the gas going bad. Be sure to drive the car for 30 minutes after putting in the Stabil.

yes use it and I agree drive it for the a short while after adding it. Also store it with a full tank. You don't really have to start it untill spring if you don't want too. Disconect the battery and put a trickle charger on it and all should be good.

Yes, use the stabilizer, and also use a battery tender. I also do this to my motorcycles when I am gone months at a time. In fact I leave Friday for six weeks.

Oh well.
I've stored cars for the winter for 20+ years.
Never used it, never had a problem.
Outside, inside warm garage... whatever.

You got lucky, Karman. I didn't let my Valkyrie run long enough last winter to get the Stabil all the way thru the system, and I had to have 5 of the 6 carbs rebuilt this summer. $$$$$

I have been putting Stabil in a fresh full tank before putting her to bed each year and each spring I have had no trouble whatsoever. I take the battery out too and store it in my basement and put on a tender. I talked with a guy who stores cars in his barn and he pulls them in, changes the oild and then stores them so that the oil is not hot when the cars are stored (no condensation). I think you can go to many lengths. keep it simple.

Drive it to the gas station. Add Stabil and then top off the tank. Then drive home. This will get the Stabil thru the whole fuel system.

Big differance between a fuel injected system and carb vented to the outside.
