Just curious if anyone knows how many miles or tenths are put on the car as it rolls out of the factory? My car comes in any day now, and I'm working so won't be able to pick it up till late. I have visions of the Ferris Bueller's Day Off car attendants now working at the Ford Dealership and taking my new baby for a wild ride or worse yet, letting customers in my baby to test drive it before I get there.
Call me paranoid but I've been screwed over at just about every turn with this group and I wouldn't put it past them to do this since they have no GT's otherwise on the lot for people to test drive. |
I'm not sure how many miles there SHOULD be on a car straight from the factory, but I know that mine had 12 on it when I got it. I didn't make a stink about it, but I couldn't help but think to myself that 12 miles is a lot. I think someone had some fun in my car before I got it. I knew there would be SOME miles on it just from driving it on and off ramps and trucks as well as driving it around the dealer lot to get it preped, but 12?!!?! :dunno: Oh well, could be worse :D
|
I hear about 2-8 is normal testing. I had 4 miles on mine.
|
Mine had 1.8 when it rolled off the truck and about 5 after the PDI.

Mine had 1.7 miles on it
|
mine had 1.2 off the truck, 2.7 after pdi
|
2.7 after pdi
|
They will all be different. Anytime one is singled out for factory testing it will have a sticker on window attesting to the extras miles at the factory.
There was 2.6 on ours, we took it for a test drive = 8.4 and it had 9.2 when we picked it up the next evening. |

Here is the deal.
Call your sales guy and tell him that when you pick the car up it should not have more than 2- 5 miles. Thats well enough for them to test drive to make sure all is good shape. Let him know that you dont wont anyone in it and that you will not take it if there is more than 5 miles on it. In addition most importantly, due a full inspection before you sign the 1st paper!!! Trust me on this one!!! Be firm. You must!! |
had 9.9 on mine when I picked it up
|
I remember when the Mustangs were first being delievered one of the members got theirs with a love note from Ford. It read something to the effect that your car was chosen for a more detailed testing process and they noted how many miles the car had at the conclusion of the testing process. I believe it was about 25.
Personally anything over 5 I'll wonder about... If it exceeds 10 I'll be vocal. I know I can drive the length of Vancouver inside 10 miles almost. |
16 on mine. I'm glad they checked it out. It was a 70 mile drive home and I didn't want any surprises.
What is everone so uptight about :dunno: The car has a rev limiter. I hit it on my first drive. :-D |

I had 1.0 flat when I picked mine up.
|
Mine had 1.2 on it
|
I had 2.6 miles on mine, shouildn't come with any greater than 8.

Had 55 on mine, and it was the first one at the dealership. I am quite confident everyone at the dealer took a turn driving it, and I really don't care - unless it's wrecked you can't hurt anything. I would not want a car that could not survive a porter or a salesman. If I was buying a Ford GT it might be a different story...

Mine had 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) at delivery. I understand why no miles is nice but I can't imagine how a technition can do a proper PDI which includes a test drive to check for rattles, vibrations etc and still the car only has 1.2 miles at delivery. Out of the factory, onto the carrier or the rail car and off again will accumulate at least that much.
The easiest check on your low mileage car is to look at the rear tires and see if the little rubber breasts are still intact. Still there? Then nobody's been "lighting 'em up". |
6 miles on mine. I watched it come off the truck and go into the bay for the PDR. I then drove away with it :)
|
After dealer techs came back my car had over 5 miles on it.. When I was done with my test drive it had 10 miles on it. 5 of those miles were hard ones during my test drive. I'm sure the techs had fun for 1 or 2 miles.
Over 11000 miles and no real problems yet. :nice: |

4 miles after PDI. 12 miles after the sales girl filled it up with gas while I was in with the F&I guy :-)
Car is fine at 2300 miles. |
Mine had 4.5 miles on it when I picked it up. I sent my salesman a letter requesting it not be driven for ANY reason other than the inspection. They said no problem and were true to their word.
|
Mine had 4 miles on it when I went to pick it up.
|
i just got in mine and drove it away... by the time i thought about it, and figured out how to get the odometer to show up on the info center, car already had 60 miles on it... so i really can't say!! lol. ;)
|
I got to the dealership shortly after my car was driven off the trailer. The salesman swiped the keys before the PDI guy could take it away, so I could see it before it got prepped.
When I started it up, it had 2.1 miles on the odometer. Just a baby! :baby: |
RELAX, WE'RE PROFESSIONALS
[/quote] Same with Evil Knievel and I didn't want him driving my new baby either. :-D 6.7 miles |
11 miles on mine
|
I was at work when I got the call that the car had arrived at the dealer (about 10:30am), and went strait from work to the dealer when I got off work (3:30pm).
When I got to the dealership my car had allready been prepped and was parked in front of the showroom...and yes, it was locked. I don't know how many miles were on the car when it arrived, but when I took delivery it had 14 miles on it. |
mine came today with 6 miles on it
|
7.1 miles after being shipped from Long island to Brooklyn & then 4000 miles across the Atlantic to England, not bad I thought!

3.0 miles after PDI. I had asked the dealer not to allow any test drives. Luckily, it arrived first thing on a Saturday and my sales guy called as soon as the truck pulled up.

I got you all beat, mine had 168 miles, plus it had the sticker of another ford dealer on it. Which makes me think someone custom ordered it, had it to delievered to my ford dealer, and then changed their mind, so im assuming the mileage is from someone driving it from one dealer to another; plus they let me have it overnight, so i drove it 100 miles, so bought it with 300 techincally, hehe..

Mine had 2.0 miles on her.
|
Mine had 15 miles on it. It bothered me a little especially when I was signing the paperwork. One of the forms they had me sign, had the mileage written down for me to confirm that that was the mileage when I picked it up. On the form it had 3 miles on it. I told them no, it actually has 15. He was like oh, well I know they had to put "gas" in it. I just dropped it because I didn't want to ruin an otherwise great day, even though I knew there was a gas station about .25 miles away. it stinks but you just get to get over it quickly and enjoy your new ride.
|
2.6 miles at delivery
|
8 miles.
Just about to hit 10,000 Took delivery Nov. 18th, 2004. |

Mine had 2.7 miles on it when I picked it up after the PDI. Mine was the first '05 Mustang that the dealer received, back in October. I talked to the fleet manager before the car arrived, and she assured me that no one would drive the car, except to put gas in it (which was 100 yards away).
|
9 point something..
|
Does anyone know if there is any documentation on how many miles each car has when it leaves the factory?
|
So how many were on your car? |
Aren't some cars road tested at the factory?
|

If the car was tested at the factory there is a window sticker attached next to the pricing info stating how many mikes were attributed to testing.
|
1.8 on mine! I had them to put it in the holding lot until I could get to the dealer. I preformed the road test myself although the Tech had to ride with me and fill out the paper work.

Ours had 10. And had to come from a drop-off lot 2 miles away.
|
Don't have my Stang yet but I was told by my salesperson that they need to put atleast 10m on it when it arrives at the dealer. However, she did offer to call me so that I can ride with them for those 10m if I would like.
|
1.9 miles when mine arrived at the dealer. 9.0 miles when I picked it up after the PDI and gas fill-up. Hated that, but what are you going to do? :bang:
Doesn't seem to be any problems though, after 1100 miles. |
And the answer is..................
5 miles at final pickup. I was so happy. Got it late this afternoon and drove it around to all my High School friends that used to give me grief in the 80's about my Lime Gold 68 Fastback. Everyone loved it. Didn't get home till after dark so I'll post pictures in the picture thread tomorrow after I was the bugs off of it. |
