I'll be buying a white '05 Gt this fall and I was leaning toward dark charcoal over the mediumm parchment for the interior color. I was wondering how dark the dark charcoal is? how close is it to black? Thanks

BLACK

As black as the inside of a black velvet bag that is inside a cow on a very dark night :jester:

(A bit of Blackadder for anyone that watches BBC America!)

Put it this way......... If you were blind thats the color you would see

The dash, door panels, an so on, will look darker and closer to black if Armorall is applied. Similar with the leather if it is treated.

The charcoal interior is basically the color of the tires... black with a slight greyish tint.

Dark Charcoal is not black. It's close, but it is more accurately described as dark grey. I have black leather in my '96 and it is black as coal. I have a buddy with a '99 that is dark charcoal, and it is noticably not as black as mine.

I'll be getting dark charcoal when it comes time to get a 2005+ on my car, but only because it's as close to black as I can get. I'd prefer a true black, but whatever.

About as dark gray as you can get without it being black ... But it isn't black. My Mach 1 interior is not anywhere near as black as a friends 98 Cobra BLACK interior.

Defintely dark, very dark though ... And most people will call it black without thinking about it.

So....lets call it "Almost, somewhat, kinda-like, but not completely like, Black"

Better?

eh...

i did this in photoshop, to try and get charcoal gray and black side by side. i'm just guessing on how dark the charcoal is, but you can really see a difference when they are side by side.

hope this helps.

if i'm way off on the color let me know. i think it's around 90% black, as far as shades of gray go.

BlackRiderX 6/29/04 07:35 AM

That's pretty close.

JeffreyDJ 6/29/04 08:44 AM

Yeah, the color on the left, also called "Almost, somewhat, kinda-like, but not completely like, Black" is pretty much what Charcoal gray looks like. Good comparison.

Don't you mean like a dark charcoal ;)
:P

kevinb120 6/29/04 10:23 AM

No, like regular charcoal, kinda like Kingsford to be specific, before you burn it of course :-D

kevinb120 6/29/04 10:24 AM

Oh, but not the match-lite stuff, thats TOO dark, the regular old red white and blue bag stuff :nice:

kevinb120 6/29/04 10:26 AM

From the Kingsford website:

"The Kingsford Company was formed when E.G. Kingsford, a relative of Ford's, brokered the site selection for Ford's new charcoal manufacturing plant. The company, originally called Ford Charcoal, was renamed Kingsford® Charcoal in his honor. "

See, there ya go :nice:

oh, and this excerpt

"On Ford's 100th birthday, to celebrate, Ford named one of its interior colors "dark Kingsford charcoal", but with the fear that people would think the leather was actually flamable, they renamed it "dark charcoal".

crazyhorse 6/29/04 12:03 PM

It is my understanding that Henry Ford invented charcoal.

Is that the quick lite or the regular
