I have been lurking here for a while now and there seem to be some very well informed people on here so I was hoping to pick your brains and get few opinions on this.
You see, every since the 05 first came on to the scene I have been dying to get my hands on one. By the time I will be able to oder one (in about a year and a half) the Cobra will be out and there is no doubt I will be in love with it aswell. My question is this: Could a Cobra be used as a daily driver or does the mystique and history of the car demand that it be taken care of better than that and only be driven for fun and relaxation? The Cobra is my dream car but to afford it I would have to sell my focus and use the Cobra as my only transportation. I believe a car is built to be driven but I would almost feel bad putting a Cobra through the rigors of everyday driving....any thoughts??

While I don' think that you'll like the gas costs of running the Cobra everyday. I think most of the people I know use it as a daily driver.

Yeah, I don't think I will be able to "settle" for the GT... if you can call buying a 300hp car settling...

ya, I dont' think I could ever turn down that much power, if the oppurtunity was given to me.

Imagine the looks of shock and awe on the faces of Viper owners once you get that Cobra.... A 35K car, that can beat Vipers...

I say sell the focus, get an 05 v6, fix it up, sell it high, and then once you get the cash from it, buy the cobra.

Buy the cobra. If a Bmw 740il is used as a daily driver, why not a cobra?

Cobras do not have anywhere *near* enough "mystique" or "history" to make them special -- nice cars they are, but drive the **** out of it every day just like any other Mustang. Anything less would be disrespectful .

OK a little lesson in economics..new cars DEPRECIATE. One you buy them, they are no longer NEW, so they are worth LESS.

SO, it's like this... He buys a new V6 for 17k, then, it's worth less and less, every day he drives it

Ok.. the odds of getting rear-ended by a dolt in an SUV go up,

maybe a few more door dings here or there...

but you get to have a big smile on your face every day

Go daily driver... a car like that was meant to be driven, not stared at in the garage

SVT Cobra - Daily Driver
Cobra R - Sunday Driver unless you like being pounded by the stiff suspension, cruise with no radio, and don't need air conditioning.

Cobras are great DD's as I used mine for 3 years before I retired it for weekend duty. Cobra R's will be collectable, only if you take very good care of it, keep the miles down, and hold onto it for the next 20-30 years.

At that time there might not be any gas left and half of us will be riding a Coffin "R" by then. Pretending and dreaming of performance is good. Experiencing and enjoying it is better.

Buy 2, stick one in the garage and let it appreciate in value for the next forty years, then sell it at auction for a bundle. Drive the other one as much as your heart desires. B)
