I have a 1.1 mile drive to work. Strangest thing happened this morning. I was turning left at a stoplight and my car beeped at me. Apparently for no reason.

Well, then it beeped several more times on my way to work. No indicator of why it was beeping.

Finally, I happened to notice once out of the corner of my eye that a light in the dash flashed when it beeped. I couldn't tell which one it was, though, only that it was a red one.

A few moments later (I'm driving around just to try to get it to do it again at this point) I was able to tell that it was the "door ajar" light.

Well, in the end I finally realized that my trunk had come a little loose and was triggering it when I would hit a bump or something. Not sure how that happened to the trunk all of a sudden, though.. it's been about two weeks since I last opened and closed the trunk.

Pretty weird, but I thought I would share my lame story. Hopefully it was the trunk and not just my luck that it stopped after I opened and closed the trunk again.. but it did seem to stop, at least for now.

You probably hit the trunk release on the remote by accident.

I guess that's possible... that's the most reasonable explanation I've heard so far.

I've had my keys in my pocket and when I crouched to pick something up, the Panic button would go off. Scared the pee out of me since I was right next to the car! D'oh!

I do not condone driving without a seatbelt in any way, shape or form... however, if you buckle the seatbelt and then unbuckle it, it will not bother you any more for the remainder of your drive.

there is a whole thread about this very subject in the issues, portion of this site. it is quite disturbing when it happens because the beeping sounds so random.

Its either a bad receiver / transmitter signal that pops the trunk when you unlock the car or the internal safety release latch somehow unlatches by itself.

Go figure.

I have noticed that my dufflebag in trunk sometimes catches the trunk release cord and it opens.

Yeah I had a box in the trunk that was catching the emergency trunk release latch and popping my trunk. I was just about to get mad when I realized what was causing it every time I would punch the gas...the box was sliding around and pulling the latch.

I stuffed that pesky trunk release handle up inside the trunk lid framework where it can't be operated easily or inadvertenly.

That way the mother-in-law can't get out on her own.

LMAO

The other beep that annoys me is if the turn signal is on for too long. Although I'm glad it is there to remind me if I leave it on by accident, sometimes on a crowded highway it takes a while to change lanes and the dam thing beeps before I get where I want to go. I found out if I turn the stereo up loud enough I can't hear it anyway. haha

For anyone having a problem with stuff sliding around back there, check this out.
http://forums.bradbarnett.net/index....opic=27741&hl=

There's also a company that makes one that is cut to fit the trunk exactly and has a Mustang logo on it. I think Donna has one.

Always wear belt, but have bad habit of releasing it when I
pull into subdivision. If I drive slowly the beep sounds before I get home. If I hurry home,it doesn't. It's about 1/2 a mile
trip. Read on forum here somewhere about velcro on trunk lid
for release handle, no problems with it catching on things since.
I kind of like the blinker alarm. It should help keep me from looking
like an old lady! ( I kind of am one! )

As we already know, there is no issues with the trunk just opening on its own so this does not belong in the issues section. Moving the to general forum for now.
