Auto up window not working

I just noticed my window has the following 2 problems:

1) window doesn't go all the way up with a flip of the switch, auto up.
2) window doesn't go up that last 1/2" when the door is closed.

1st problem I can live with, but rain will get into car with the 2nd problem since it's not fully closing.

It's a 06, anyone else have/solve this problem?

Thx

Have you tried resetting your window limits?

stupidgenius36 9/1/11 09:07 PM

What he said...Have you recalibrated the windows? Sometimes they just get a little crazy.

MustangGod 9/2/11 01:50 AM

How do you calibrate and set limits?

Glenn 9/2/11 05:35 AM

its in thew owners maunal. I think you roll the windows down and hold the button down for 2 seconds then roll it up and hold the button up for 2 seconds. I think thats it. But check the book. I have to reset mine way to often. I don't know of any other car you have to do this with.

Katfish 9/2/11 08:26 AM

Thx Glen!

That did it, working normally again.

Hello Katfish and MustangGod,

My name is Deysha with Ford Customer service. Katfish, glad to hear you were able to get your window working properly again thanks to our awesome members. MustangGod, the info to re-calibrate the windows is in your owner guide and this info is good for 2005-newer:
Restoring the Express up functionality (Front windows only)
Under low battery power conditions, Express Up only functionality may
be lost. To reset this function after restoring full battery power, pull the
switch to the Express Up position, hold the switch until the glass
reaches the stall position and continue to hold for 2 seconds. Push the
window switch DOWN and operate the window to the full down position.
Express UP will now be functional. Perform Express UP
re-calibration with door closed only. Calibrating with door open
will cause the window to continuously bounce back.
You can also find your owner manual at: https://owner.ford.com/servlet/Conte...&model=Mustang. I hope this helps! Have a great weekend!

what if I am always having to reset them. Its seems that setting or resetting them only holds for a few days and then its back to not working properly again. What would I have to replace to get them to hold their setting?

Glenn 9/19/11 11:03 AM

Anyone????

stupidgenius36 9/19/11 09:48 PM

Sorry, no ideas here. I've only had to recalibrate mine a few times for as long as I've had it. Those times were usually after the battery was disconnected for a while for maintenance. Have you tried unplugging the battery lately?

houtex 9/19/11 10:12 PM

If I recall correctly from something I read somewhere about how these things work...

The motor itself stores the positions for up and down. For sure, the sensor is in it. As such, if you are constantly resetting, the motor in question is likely your culprit, and will need replacing. It is unlikely to be anything else, Glenn, but I could be talked out of that theory by a real expert. :)

/looked at the wiring, seems to be what it says, athough there is a couple of connections to the SJB, so...
//But it's likely the motor sensors, so I'm goin' with replacin' the motor, final answer, Regis.

sturgis 9/19/11 10:19 PM

Glenn, Not sure? Had that prob. today also But i replaced my battery and re-calibrated and its working fine. I was wondering how old your battery is? or if it's about time to replace? The above info said "Under low battery power conditions" ???? I'm just throwing it out there??? My battery was on it's last leg anyway though

DaTT(1sK) 9/20/11 04:23 AM

I just live with it. Doesn't bug enough to even consider replacing parts.

NinjaSteffers 9/20/11 04:45 AM

I had the same thing happen I had to get the window motor replaced and it was only like 60$ ... I think. But now it works just fine

Glenn 9/20/11 05:14 AM

Thanks the replies Gents. Nope not worth 60 bucks to fix it. lol

houtex 9/20/11 08:35 AM

Oh, if that's all, it's totally worth it, to me, twice.

stupidgenius36 9/20/11 09:50 AM

That's not too bad, but there's other things I'd rather spend $60 on. At least you have a rough estimate for when the motor finally dies completely.

houtex 9/20/11 11:03 AM

Well, my sanity is worth more than $60, so I wouldn't be waiting long before my mind finally snapped like an uncooked string of spaghetti being irritated at the non-working auto up/down.

/Fastidious
//I woulda said 'anal', but seriously, I just can't say that word.

Glenn 9/20/11 12:32 PM

yep 75 bucks from ford or reman unit for about 65 or so. I do hate the clunking they cause when they are not calibrated. I'm playing the lotto so I may order a motor some day. It really doesn't bother me that much so I will deal with it for a while longer. Maybe check the bone yards.
