I'll be putting down an order for an X-plan 06 GT before the end of the month; I'm wondering how much the Tax/Title/Licensing fees are at the dealerships in AZ.

I'm going to try to get the dealer to pick them up but we'll see what happens.

Anyhow--what did you guys end up paying for these fees on your S197 GTs?

Well, it's going to vary depending on what the price for the car is and if you are trading anything in. I traded my F150 in and only paid taxes on the difference in price between what they gave me for the truck and the price on the Mustang.

Your salesperson should be able to tell you the exact numbers for the deal you have after they have everything in the computer.

I think what you're really after is the "document" fee that the dealer charges. That's the only thing that varies from dealer to dealer.

I've seen them as high as $400+ and as low as why I paid which was... $50, I think..I'll have to look at the invoice to make sure.

Tax and Title are fixed based on your particular city (they are different) the value of the car and what Mustang Speeder mentioned as well.

Look at spending 500 and change on title alone. Then add Tax and Dealer Doc fees.

The general rule of thumb (at least in SoCal) is adding 10% to the selling price will be your approx out the door price (tax and license included).

Go on Forddirect and read the Xplan rules, dealer doc fees will be rebated to you or not charged at all. I received a credit on my first payment from Ford. My plate fee was around 425.00 which is based on a vehicle value of 26k for GT's. The interesting thing about Xplan in AZ is that Ford lets the dealers add their advertising fee back into the invoice which is not paid when paying retail.

Just do what I did - order out of state and have it drop shipped! Mossy Ford in CA only charged me a $45.00 doc fee. After the car was dropped shipped - again for a rediculously low price - spent an eternity at DMV, and paid 5.6% state sales tax (no city sales/use tax, I don't live within city limits). Since I paid cash and had no trade in with Mossy, the state sales tax was computed on the final cash price plus dealer installed accessories, not on sticker price. So X-plan also helps you save on taxes in that situation. I was charged a little over $500 dollars for title and registration.

Since my charges are all straight DMV charges, any more than that and you know you're being hoodwinked by the dealer.

Or get a car from a dealer outside Tucson and Phoenix. No city sales taxes there either.

I went though Jones Ford in Buckeye. Depite Buckeye's booming growth and it getting closer and closer to Phoenix proper - no city tax.
