most stock systems will do that, if your really worried about it, keep the stock amps and speakers, and just upgrade the head unit. For a couple hudred bucks(canadian) you can have a really nice unit, that will hardly ever skip. aftermarkets are made to play burnt cd's as well as MP3's, when compatible.

No kidding that's the truth, and I am not shelling out close to $1600 to pay for something that MIGHT skip or change discs every once in a while. I will take the head unit back everytime it does.

Go buy an Alpine, mine plays MP3, CDR's even Memorex with nary an issue, doesn't even skip when I'm offroad in my Bronco. I got one of the best decks made by Alpine, and it was under $500 with a good-guy discount. Flip face, 55x4 amp (not used anyway), 3 sets of pre-outs, etc. For $1600 you can do a lot better than the powercrap 1000 or whatever they call it.

The donkey is trustworthy, it's those jacka**es you have to watch out for...
though I do feel a bit suspicious trusting a donkey

According to my dealer, that would delay my order. I wanted to add the wheel locking kit but he said that may push back my order. How do I tell him that he may be wrong?

Gosh...I don't have my GT yet, but I sure hope I don't end up with one of the lemons out of the bunch of factory stereos. I don't know the ratio of bad vs. good.....but I've got my fingers crossed for mine.
