If they are halogens and you handled them improperly they will burn out very quickly! Halogens are very sensitive to fingerprints and oil/dirt on the bulbs. If you handle them with bare hands they will get hot spots and burn out within a few hours of burn time, I know from experience!! Just a thought.

yea i read that on the instructions
Is it common for them to only last a year?

sounds as if there could be a problem with a ground

next time you are reinstalling the bulbs, try and clean the terminals a bit, they could be corroded

We've had our car for 1 yr and 28k miles. I noticed one headlight was out. I removed the not functioning bulb and reinserted it into the socket and it worked... go figure. It now works. I happened to buy a set of spare bulbs for when these really stop working.

Check the bulb contacts in the outlet. I had a taillight on my 99 Superduty that would appear to be dead but would go on the moment I removed the taillight to replace the bulb...I used some electrical contact cleaner and di-electric grease and that seemed to solve it.
