You guys are lucky. I orderd my GT back in early June and I can't get ANY information out of my salesman. All he tells me is my order number, no VIN, no build date. Its KILLING ME. :bang:
see the sales manager, he can look up the order[/b][/quote]
At my dealership there is a designated person who runs the reports. It is not the salesperson or manager. I usually call the manager, who in turn relies upon this other person. In my case, the manager has been really good to deal with. He has been very nice, courteous, and does not mind my calls (about every 2 wks). I think that the previous advice to call or visit the manager is "right-on". I know just how bad you want to find out about your order. Its hard, especially considering this car has been "veiled" for the past 8 months. Compound that with not having sat in one, not having driven one, and not knowing price of one. If you are like me, you are rolling on pure-faith. Thank God for this excellent website. Because of it, I am certain that the 2005 Mustang is gonna rock. Good Luck !

I ordered My Gt Premium Back in early June from a small East Texas Dealership. I checked with the Owner of the dealership last week. He told me he did not have anymore information than what he had told me in Early July when he gave me my DORA and VOC. The Vehicle Order Confirmation says:

Order # 701A
Priority 40
Order Type 1
Order Code 140A
On the Dora it says VIN# VHT82H 5

Is priority 40 kinda high?
Most Order types I have seen have been Type A How is Type 1 Different?

Thanks Bruce for clearing that up. I guess everyone else is buying theirs under one of the plans. Do you know what priority 40 means? Most that I have read have a low priority number. How do they decide which cars get what priority number?

Dealer says they see cars 10-14 days after built if not held for any reasons.

Priority codes are set by the dealer. They can be any number between 10 and 99. Their significance is in their sequence in relation to other orders your dealer has in the order bank. Barring any restrictions on options(commodities) a 10 priority order will be pulled for production before a 15, or 40. Basically, Ford looks at the dealers order bank and pulls the lowest priority code order. This is how the dealer tells Ford which order they want built first. We prioritize on a first come, first serve basis.
So, if yours is a 40 and the dealer has no other orders in with a lower number, then yours is next. If they have others in with a lower number, then your not.

Not that I think it's that great, but maybe someone could put this answer in the FAQ, since it seems to be a common concern. It makes me use my brain to much to keep answering. B)

Wow, that's bad. I just quoted myself.

Bruce......You are suffering from an acute form of "Mustangitis" it can be aggravated by the onset of new body styles and SE's etc. It can be contagious...so be carefull who you come in contact with. Symptoms will gradually quiet down as the New models come out and the hysteria goes away. I have first hand knowledge of this malady! B)

I think I've got it too... only cure is to buy one, luckily I've got my order in, so the symptoms have subsided.

Thumbs down

BEK, thanks for answering my question! I was wrong in my original post.. it was numbered Priority 10!! I guess this means I am the first in line for my Mustang to be built at my dealership. Thanks!
Now if only I could get a firm build date out of these guys...

So Bruce-Priorities only matter within the dealership? Not for all productions? I have a priority 10, I wish it was for everything, not just the dealer.
