The one thing your Audiovox alarm has that the factory alarm doesn't is a "shock" sensor. If anyone hits the car or messes with it on the outside, the Audiovox will be set off, but the factory alarm won't.

Could be the saleman was clueless as to what the factory alarm could do. Probably thought it was only one of those intelli-key or secure-lok systems - in which case adding the Audiovox would be an upgrade. But in this case no- the Mustang comes with a pretty decent factory system comparable to aftermarket.

I've posted this before, but just for you I will post it again.

This is the location in the vert, but I assume it is the same in the coupe. Test it by arming the car with the trunk open. Hold down the trunk sensor thingy, wait 20 seconds, then release the switch/sensor. You will set off the alarm and hear this cute little "honda" horn going crazy. :nice:

The other cool thing about the factory alarm is that the message center displays an alert if the alarm was activated in your absence. I just wish it WOULDN'T disable the interior motion sensors when the top is down. I'd gladly accept a few false alarms in exchange for a little protection when I park with the top down.

I suppose if you don't get the IUP, you won't have a message center with the active alarm system?

Thanks!! Just tried it, it's actually a pretty funny little horn sound. Guess it's better than nothing eh? Always wondered what that little thing was in the trunk!

yeah the dealer can be snakes. they told me they were going to throw in the stargaurd (the chip that has to be inserted before you start the car or th engine wont start) and they charged me for the **** thing. gay but i am glad i have it.

Have them upgrade you to the combo anti-theft/remote start system. I think for an extra $100 it is a similar base unit that adds a remote starter and antenna. Mine works great now that the bump sensor is set correctly. It may even use your current wiring and just require that the base unit be swapped out and the long range antenna be plugged in and mounted behind your rearview mirror.
