Need help with starting problem on 01 GT.

I have a 01 GT ,for the past week when I go to start it up it wont stay at idle. I have to give it gas for it to stay on, then after a few miles it would stay at idle. Then it finally wouldn't start at all so I ran down all the check list. Fuses, new fuel pump, new ECM, both under warranty, checked all of the plugs and none are fouled out and have good spark my batteries good. Now after all that still nothing. I'm not getting fuel pressure I hear the pump kick but my car just cranks over. Any suggestions?

how about the pressure reg. also did you check for any codes?

No codes where is the regulator located?

The fuel pressure reg is located on the rail with a short vacuum hose connected to manifold vacuum. The voltage and current signal comes from the ignition to the pcm that sends a pulse width modulated signal to the teh fuel pump driver (called the inertia switch.. also check of it is tripped). The driver module controls the fuel pump in the tank based on the signal from the PCM that gets the input from the pressure sensor. If there is no need for fuel, the driver module is kept from providing current to the pump in the tank. hope this helps.

Ok changed out the fps with my 02 GT and still won't start.

get a fuel pressure tester from autozone. You have to pay for it but when you return it you get all your money back. Then you will know how much pressure you are really getting

Tested it and no pressure needle does'nt even move. So I guess Autozone gave me a defective pump. That's the only thing I can think of.

I got a new pump installed it and tested it before I put it back up and the pump doesn't kick on. Any suggestions on why the pump is not powering up?? I've gone through everything again and I can't seem to find out what's the problem.

Ccrm would be my guess without going through all the wiring. You could try to bypass the inertia switch first

I've changed the ccrm and checked the inertia switch it's working properly and has power going to it. I'm thinking it a ground issue.

If you have power to the intertia switch and out of it then unplug the connecter at the fuel pump to check voltage and ground there

01comegetsome 1/30/12 05:58 PM

Just checked it and it looks like im not getting a ground from the main plug.

Correction I am getting a ground..
