engine help

Hey everyone I have a 2000 mustang gt and just recently noticed a clicking noise at about 1500 to 2000 rpm (that's when it starts) and gets louder and faster the higher rpm that I go my buddy who is pretty engine savvy said it is probably a pushrod now my question is has anybody experienced this or have any input as to what it could be thank you so much an advance to any post

Your car has no pushrods. If the tick is like mine its a rod bearing. Change the oil now and shine a light at it while stirring it around. Does it have metal flakes all in it?

If there is you will need an engine rebuild. If you keep driving it until it throws the rod you will have to pretty much buy an entire engine. Right now you might can save the crank. You will most likely need new rods though

Ahh. Well unless you've rebuilt a modular engine before I wouldn't mess with it. They are a little more complicated than a push rod engine. Rebuild cost for for mine was around 1500 bucks in parts alone. Buy mine is a 4v engine. Yours is newer than 95 right?

Yeah mine is a 2000 2v I was thinking it would be cheaper buying a 5.0 and groping it in and I am not going to do it myself I want my car to run afterward lol so what do you think

It is cheaper but you will not be able to get it to pass emissions because the 5.0 was never an obd2 engine

Do you think the noise is coming from the top of the engine or down low?
