Adding Cobra Supercharger to 2001 V6

Hi All,

I found a posting on Craigslist for a Cobra Supercharger and was wondering if it would fit on my stock sixer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I attached the pics from the Craigslist page. Selling this for very cheap so I'm very skeptical but also could be an opportunity....

From Craigslist:
"mustang cobra supercharger fits 99-04 v-8 or v-6 engines, under 2000 miles on it, in excellent condition comes with pulley and matching throttle body, original ford product, asking $600.00 B.O. call"

thatll bolt right up,

You're sure? I'll call the guy. I honestly don't know the first thing about Superchargers since I'm new to the Mustang community and I also have a Vsixer...

From the pictures, and since the posting says it an OEM part, it looks like the one here from American Muscle: http://www.americanmuscle.com/fordra...0304cobra.html

This says it is bolt-on but only compatible with the 03-04 Cobras.

oh v6 my bad not sure

Yeah, that's why I asked. From my understanding, you can make it work but there is a lot of extra parts/labor involved. And don't know if it would even be worth it. But for $600?! ;-)

You need a lot of extra stuff. Its not worth it. You could throw a procharger on for a lot cheaper and easier.

What's the difference between the two?

600 is to high for a used m112. Aside from that you will be needing the plate worth 900 to bolt the m112 to the engine, and some other small parts. It will cost you like almost 3000 for everything not including dyno tune.. Procharger stage 2 is the way to go!

For the price of that blower unit and what you will need, lines, heat exchanger, belt/pullies, resovoir, new computer/tune, gauges, just to name a few. No way! You also may need upgrade the rear end for the new power. Don't forget labor where it really adds up.

Look on eBay for a complete cobra engine with supercharger and drop it in. Consider the 5.0l coyote v8 as well. Ive seen them sell for a fraction of retail.

A mix? A ProCharger IS a centrifugal blower

If he's isn't sure if he is able to tackle this do you think he is ready to do a swap? Or even want to spend the money...
