New to forum - 86' LX 5.0

Hey guys, new to the forum and finally back to owning a foxbody. Had a 86' GT Hatch in high-school and having a mid-life crisis so bought an LX 5.0 for $1500 off a neighbor. Body and interior are rough (I pulled interior) but have a decent strategy to get it back to looking decent. Little to no rust as it was NC car it's entire life. I want to drive the car for a year or so and sell. A few questions if I may:
  1. Luggage rack is missing - should I remove brake light and fill holes before painting or find a rack to bring it back to stock? any idea where to source a rack? What would drive more value long-term?
  2. Overall upholstery is not that bad besides the driver seat. Anyone know where to find driver seat sand beige fabric? Or should I just suck it up and bring to an upholstery shop? I am trying not to buy $600 worth of material if most of it's in great shape
  3. Car is blue - the white top is not original. What color would you suggest? Was thinking black.
Thanks all. Here are some pics.

I've always liked those quad headlight fox bodies.

I say stick with a blue shade or go with gray. Black is great but extremely difficult to keep clean (and shows all the imperfections easily) to the point of it being stress-inducing.

I really dig the four-eyes. I didn't used to be a huge fan but the last few years I've really come to appreciate them and I'd love to get one of my own some day as a project. Looking forward to seeing the progress.

RE: the rack. It won't add/subtract value to that Mustang, I fear. And you can get a decklid for it for about 200 bucks or so, and then paint to match, no holes in it. Or you can hit ebay for the rack, and then restore it to put it back on. I wouldn't bother to fill the holes with the new decklid pricing.

RE: the upholstery. You can get that done at an upholsterer. It won't be terrible. They'll have the stuff. Or you can get an entire kit, but dang if I can find anything in the beige... I'd say upholsterer.

RE: Top. Have you thought any about tan on that top? With the beige interior, it would look pretty good, you ask me. But black is certainly going to work. You do you on that.

Fun project! Pics on your progresses!

And belated welcome to the forum, lurker for 3ish months!
