Nathan's Blue Notch....

Since all this was lost in the crash, I'm gonna try to recreate as much of it as I can with google cache. :metal: Here goes:

Since today is the three year anniversary of getting my first mustang and first car, I've decided to start a thread to document everything I've done to it so far and everything I'll do with it in the future. http://forums.bradbarnett.net/images...on_mrgreen.gif For anyone interested, here's the story of how I got my mustang. Now for some pics. http://forums.bradbarnett.net/images.../firedevil.gif

The day I got it, 1989 Ford Mustang Coupe, Medium Shadow Blue w/ Regatta Blue Interior, 2.3L 5spd, 114,xxx miles:

Favorite all-time pic (October '08):

Interior: I've done several different things with my interior so far. I added aluminum pedal covers, shift knob, stainless steel scuff plates, and a few other small things. I also replaced the (broken) seats with ones out of a '95 I bought off craigslist, and put some cheap covers over them for now. Someday I'd like to get some Corbeau Sport Seats and matching upholstery for the back seat. I also want to add some new floor mats so it looks a little cleaner.

Sound system:

When I bought it the sound system consisted of a broken tape deck and two 6x9s in the rear. The dash speakers and antenna weren't even hooked up. In late summer '06 I got a Sony CDX-GT200 installed and that was fine for a while. The next summer I ordered Blaupunkt GTx352s for the dash and Infinity Kappa 6x8s for the rear deck. That still wasn't enough so the next spring I ordered a Blaupunkt THA475 4ch amp, Infinity Reference 6.5s (shallow), Kenwood KDC-X492, and an Infinity Reference 10" sub plus box and wiring. And because I still wanted more I ordered another sub, a bigger box, and an Alpine MRP-M500 plus wiring and a capacitor. I also built a custom amp rack and trunk lid mat with the help of my dad, plus dynamatted the trunk and doors. Pics:

Engine, etc: I really haven't done a whole lot performance wise, yet. Right now my only mods are a CAI from Mustangs Unlimited, a Maximum Motorsports Strut Tower Brace, and an SVO sway bar from Paul, plus the Eibach springs. http://forums.bradbarnett.net/images...on_mrgreen.gif I've also added a stainless steel radiator cover, chrome prop rod, and painted a few small things:

For the future I still have a ton of plans! The most important would have to deal with the engine. lol I'd like to do either a 2.3T or 5.0L swap. It's so hard to choose. I'd want the 2.3T because it's unique and a lot easier to do. I'd want the 5.0L because I love the sound and torque of a V8. http://forums.bradbarnett.net/images/smilies/doh.gif Anyway here's a list of everything else I still want to do:

-Paint brake calipers and drums black
-Install new door handles (I've had them for almost 2 years http://forums.bradbarnett.net/images/smilies/nonono.gif)
-Repaint mirrors and front and rear windshield molding/trim
-Tint windows (% http://forums.bradbarnett.net/images/smilies/dunno.gif)
-Upgrade alternator
-New seats
-Pro5.0 short throw shifter
-Better front sway bar (stock 5.0, MM, or Eibach http://forums.bradbarnett.net/images/smilies/dunno.gif)
-MM Subframe connectors
-MM Caster Camber Plates
-New shocks and struts
-Regatta blue floor mats w/ pony
-Black leather e-brake boot
-Billet e-brake cover
-Replace seat belt sleeves, and various other worn interior items
-Replace rear package tray
-Replace roof rail molding
-Replace body molding
-Refurbish quarter window trim
-Either shorten the antenna, or splurge and have it shaved
-140mph (white face http://forums.bradbarnett.net/images/smilies/dunno.gif) gauges
-Shave and paint engine bay black
-and probably some other things I'm forgetting. lol

Blue Notch 9/8/09 06:18 PM

And the updates:

I put some Infinity Reference components up front with the tweeters mounted in the dash. I decided to go with a 10" Alpine Type R instead of my Infinity References. It saved about 17lbs. worth of weight, and hits way harder than they could ever dream of. I also upgraded to a 130amp 3G alternator from PA Performance. I had to take off my strut tower brace though cause there was absolutely no hope of getting it to fit. :( I'll try to figure something out eventually. Some pics:

I liked the contrast. I actually got my inspiration from another stang in a ford magazine. I haven't been able to find it though. :(

future9er24 9/8/09 07:00 PM

i like that the moulding is black. definitely helps the look :nice:

It was a GT hatch for one thing. :p Also the stripes were wider and it had the stock cheese grader tailights painted black.

edumspeed 9/8/09 07:08 PM

Nathan, you need to cover the plates on a few pics you missed :poke: Edit time.

Blue Notch 9/8/09 07:11 PM

I gave up on covering my plates long ago. There's so many out there now, it's not even worth it. :p

Blue Notch 9/8/09 07:16 PM

Blue Notch 9/21/09 03:00 PM

I got an email from my uncle saying he bought the notch 20 years ago yesterday! Happy belated adoption day!

Need some more money so I can actually get something done. :glare:

Vote, should I paint my interior black, or leave it the stock blue and black? :dunno: Black would be sweet, but I'm not sure I want to totally change it from stock. But then again, I've sort of already done that. :wonder:

Leave it stock. Painting and doing it right is a major PITA!

I'd probably have to repaint the stock stuff anyways though. Some of it is pretty faded and discolored in places.

That's fine though.

I have to be careful with mine so it doesn't get scratched. If you paint blue with old blue underneath it won't be as bad.

I wouldn't change a thing, but I did end up having to add clearcoat on the interior panels to keep them from scratching easily.

cdynaco 4/30/10 08:57 PM

Yeah I've always heard changing color is a pita and its dang near impossible to do it right where there is no trace of the old color.

Now as for my old F150 which is a 'copper' (burnt orange), and faded almost to Raptor orange with a bit of compound LOL, I'd probably paint it a brown of some sort. Or not. :heh:

I'll have to get some digital mud though. LOL

edumspeed 5/2/10 06:30 AM

The only way to change interior color "right" is by getting different color trim and re upholster the seats & door panels. I've heard of tinting, but I've never used or seen it done. Paint will always scratch off, sadly.

Seriously tho have you thought about putting some smoked headlights and taillights on it?? I think it would look really good with them.

Blue Notch 7/25/10 07:37 AM

I have thought about that, but I think I like the stock ones better. At least for now.

Just messin with ya. If you ever need a new set I might have one set still in the box that is coming with my Stang

Blue Notch 7/26/10 12:58 PM

Honestly I'm not sure how smoked lights would look on my car. The paint, stripes, wheels, etc. are so bright as it is, I'd be worried it wouldn't look right. If anything, I would only do a very light coat on the headlights I have now. But I like it the way it is...for now.

tom_vilsack 7/26/10 03:34 PM

what did you do with the mass airflow sensor? (can you run proper air/fuel mixture...without?) are you getting checkengine code if without?

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u...0204_large.jpg

Blue Notch 7/26/10 03:35 PM

My '89 doesn't have one. I don't think the 2.3s got them til '91. :dunno:

ah...wish mine didn't...i like my 93 vert but pain in *** with all the emission control crap...think for my next foxbody ill go back to a older foureye...nice and simple...

yours is really nice....gotta be one of the nicest 2.3L out there!!!

Ya, but you get the extra 15hp. :stirpot:

Thanks. It's in pretty good condition, but it still needs work. Hopefully someday I can get it exactly the way I want. :heh:

tom_vilsack 7/27/10 12:49 AM

make that 17 ;-)

i hear you about never ending...ive only had this fox for a couple months, but swear not a days gone by that i haven't done something to it...

was having all sorts of issues with idle surge ect (even after tread post about changing egr sensor)...yesterday i took off IAC and gave it a good bath in seafoum and cleaned with some q-tips...and wow! what a difference...like a whole new car...couple months left here in cdn then into garage for winter...when can really get at her (i see you live in minn...so my vanc cdn winters be like summer for you lol)

ps: drove from winnipeg down to minn (on way back home to vanc) a few years ago...sure was nice area...saw a couple twins games....was great road trip!

Blue Notch 7/27/10 01:14 AM

That's awesome! I've been to plenty of twins games. I like their new stadium, but I'll still miss the metrodome. You must have some scorchers for winters in vancouver cause it's supposed to be 93 here tomorrow. lol :heh: I gotta put mine away for the winter in a few months as well. I'm really not looking forward to it though cause I just got her out of storage last week. I can't believe it's almost august!

BRO!

Someone needs to report you to Mustang Social Services! That's called NEGLECT son!

I'll admit, I never got my car out of storage last summer either, but I was literally unable to keep it at my residence do to location. Plus I have two small children who need to ride in car seats. Its not very often I'm even in a situation where I'm by myself where it's even a possibility to drive it, then take it back to where I'm storing it.

Dude. Today. Check the fluids, put a battery charger on it, and start it up.

I'm gonna try sometime this summer. I've never siphoned gas before. I don't really know if it even matters since I don't plan on keeping the engine anyways.

codeman94 6/3/15 08:34 AM

Just shove a small hose down the filler tube and suck until it starts coming out then put that end of the hose into your receptacle. Make sure you have some water to wash your mouth out right away.
