Okay for starters this will be long.

First, as of now I own a red 90 auto coupe. It is very, very clean the only flaws anywhere are the seats (faded) and the scratches on the right rear wheel well. The scratches are only to the primer and are not indented on the inside of the well. All this and it needs new wheels also, the ones it has are the stock 10 hole & they are shot. What I'm wanting preferably would be a very clean 87-89 gt 5-speed. Now where I'm stuck is wondering which is the better way to go. A.) Fixing the paint on mine (very minimal), new wheels & tires (expensive, $1000) & sell it and hope to find what I'm looking for in app. 10 months or B.) Paint my car black with 96 mystic lemans stripes & buy new wheels & tires, 3.55 gears... the list goes on. I go back and forth all the time between, my car being so clean and nice aside from the paint & wheels that I want to keep it or fixing it up and then finding just EXACTLY what I want. Also if anyone has any idea which is the cheaper way to go. So if you took the time to read all of this please leave a knowledgable reply if you can in any way. Thanks.

i guess it really comes down to what do you really want? a 5 spd or an auto. sounds like that will be the determining factor. if you want a 5sp i say get you a set of used 5 holes and tires and sell it as is. if the scratches are as minor as you say. they arent going to take away from the value that much. then sell your coupe and find you the car you want. hope this helps

I say keep the trunk, make it your race car (gut it, strip the weight, replace that DOA with a C4, put in a nasty 302 stroker) and go whip some Chevy hiney!

err, and go buy the M5 stang your looking for, because you got crazy with the compression and gear on your trunk.

If you are happy with your car, I'd say take it to a reputable body shop and have the scratches fixed. They should be able to blend in the paint without a problem. Look on ebay for a nice set of 5 spokes (16") and go to the tire rack for a deal on closeouts. As far the interior goes, you can find a nice pair cobra or cobeau seats within your budget, and you'll have a car that you know the history on, and will look good. Good luck.

I don't think the wheels would take that much away from the wheels...people are always asking me if I will sell my stang and my 5 spoke ponies are shot, they have offered as much as 6k for it, but tires you might just get some Kellys (just a lower brand goodrich, or is it goodyear) and call it a day. as for the scratches, if theyre that minimal you should be able to get that out with a nice 3 step Maguires wax treatment and be done. A lot of people change those rims out anyway to ponies or cobras, so I say let them make the choice. Just my opinion

If the car means anything to you than I would keep it.
