How fast can what go? lol
The older models
Haaaaa |
Well years ago when I had a 66 289 I could get her up to 115 or so. I could get the 68 302 up to 130 but I've never pushed them to see their limits.
4 barrell carb or 2?
Because I cant wait to fire it up!
2 on the 289 and 4 on the 302
Just make sure your suspension is in good order before you try and find out. Those old stangs don't like high speeds.

Got suspension..
Now im ready!!! |
I had my '69 302 2 barrel up to about 105mph once. It was actually a little scary, and that was at an age when I still thought I was immortal. The aerodynamics definitely had her lifting up on the front wheels - she felt very floaty. I slowed down.
Which I needed to do anyway. I have had the '06 up to 110mph, somewhere it was safe and legal to do so. She felt very stable. |
Don't forget steering. And yea they older ones hate high speeds. Tend to shake, fastest I took my coupe was 120 and it was sketchy. You can be going 50 mph in a 65 and it feels like 130 in my srt8
125 in my '68 GT350 and I was scared into slowing down. VERY light front end at that speed.
150 down the backstretch at Watkins Glen in the Saleen and it felt like a highway cruise at 75. |
