Dream question about dropping classic body on modern chasy
 

Obviously anything is possible now a days but at a cost. I own a 08' v6 mustang and have been watching many custom car shows, so my mind started to wonder a bit. Is it possible for me to take a 66' mustang gt coupe and drop it over the stop of my 08 (knowing that this will destroy my 08 completely)? After this is done I would then like take the rest... Engine and what not. But would this work? And at what cost if I found a decent body in the 10k range? Please give details and specifics please... Thank you, and this is a serious question.

a hot wrench and welder can do anything .. the fellow i got my 69 stang from actually was going to put the body skin on a 2004 stang he had that was rolled .. dont destroy a good 08 car .. find a junkyard wreck and go from there ..

What would be the rough estimate of this proses if I did decide to go with my 08 mustang?

i dont know that but this is a 2010 stang retrofitted to look like a 69 .. i think it was about 20 thousand plus the price of the 2010 stang

It's not an S197 and its a long read, but it gives a good idea what a project like this entails. They put a '65 body on a terminator's chassis.

Yes I love that sn65 mustang they built, yellow one above ^^^^, it is insane and all, but unless I had a very very dispensable income, I'd rather have both cars, not a fusion of both. Then you have two very nice cars. Two is better than one I was always taught

No idea on costs but personally I wouldn't sacrifice a genuine '66 GT for a project like this. You could probably find a donor Mustang body from a 6 cylinder car for certainly less than 10k that would serve the same purpose.

As rust-free and straight as you can afford. Otherwise it depends on your metalworking skills. I'm guessing you wouldn't be using the old floor pans so I suppose it wouldn't matter that much if they were in less-than-perfect condition.

I have no idea what that was.... But those prices scare me... If I ought a shell and tore apart my own 08' And didn't take it to a shop such as foose or west coast customs I think the price would be a lot less.. I could be wrong.. But some of those things on that list I'm sure can be done by myself...

I believe that is what it would cost to do what you are wanting.

Why don't you just do a restro mod on an old Mustang? Might be cheaper in the long run? :dunno:

I think that's what I will actually do that... To be honest I wanted to sup up the 66' and I've heard people say how the ride is uncomfortable in a classic and how they are no where close to the handling of new cars. So how can I make a 66' a comfortable ride and have impeccable handling? I want this to be my everyday ride..

My 65 fb is either going to have 4 link or the heidts IRS setup in the back. I can't decide. I've heard that the IRS setups which is what the sn65 has because it was stock on a 03 cobra are the only weak point because they can't handle much power. For the front I will put tubed arms and coilovers. Don't want to do the full mustang II conversion. Other than that it will have a small block with a t56 behind it. Will also have full subframe connector setup. That is definitely an upgrade at least in my opinion. Stock the mustangs have so much body roll and track all over the road and I can't stand it.

I've looked into the heidts 4-link, for $1000 it doesn't seem like a bad choice.

I think that would be a great project. A 66 coupe isn't worth much even fully restored. Neither is an 08. That conversion would be a great build. And a full restomod would fetch better money and be more fun to own than either one separately.
