My unique 1966 coupe

Just pulled out of storage of several years .Here we have the harder to find California production 1966 Mustang with the very rare original smog equipment still intact and functioning. It has 200 CID I-6 with auto trans. This car gets lots of comments from the true mustang enthusiast that have never seen many of these options and had no idea they existed. Some people love the car and others walk away scratching their heads .I have had several amusing comments like who got crazy with the JC Whitney catalog and sticky tape
When it comes to options, this car basically had them all!! Power steering, Power Brakes, Air Conditioning, 2-Speed Wiper/Washer, Seat Belts, Cruise Control, and other original dealer/factory accessories. These are all factory/dealer parts Cruise control Throttle control Rotunda engine gauge cluster Rear window defroster Rear speaker assembly Reverberator sound system Spinner wheel covers set of four Rotunda fog lamp kit Compass Rotunda head rest kit Vanity mirror Rotunda door mounted storage compartments Rotunda fender mounted turn indicator Spotlight Exterior headlamp warning buzzer Park brake light Hazard warning assembly Tissue dispenser Illuminated grille medallion Rotunda cigarette lite-lighter Trunk compartment light Rotunda portable utility light Rotunda door safety locks Rotunda license plate frames Rotunda washer bottle with bracket Automatic headlight dimmer Am-Fm radio Whinnie horn AC unit Rally-Pac |
My '65 coupe... bought it in completely unrestored condition from the original owner's neighbor in Feb '11. Other than its original inline 6 (which has been rebuilt .040 over), the car has been converted over to V8 equipment (including an 8" 3.20 rear and a T-5spd from a 90s Mustang). The 200 six sounds great through a header and dual exhausts!
My goal was to equip it exactly like a '65 GT. The only GT part it is currently missing is the short ratio steering box. I have a webpage showing the stages at http://www.just-a-six.tumblr.com The last picture shows one of the other Mustangs in the stable- a '14 GT (also with red interior). Not pictured is an '03 convertible (also silver)... http://25.media.tumblr.com/a2d028339...uf1o1_1280.jpg http://25.media.tumblr.com/fa7fdef7c...uf1o2_1280.jpg http://24.media.tumblr.com/ac63a0337...uf1o1_1280.jpg http://25.media.tumblr.com/a8868b224...uf1o5_1280.jpg http://forums.vintage-mustang.com/at...c1465front.jpg |
After selling our business here's my present to me. I've dreamed of a muscle car for years. I just bought this about 4 weeks ago.

This is my 1965 Ivy Green Metallic 289 4V Convertible. My dad bought this car in 1967 from the original owner here in Oklahoma City and let me drive it to high school (69-71.) The VIN shows this car was originally Silver Smoke Gray, but it was Ivy Green Metallic when my dad bought it, so that is the color I kept it when I bought it from him in 1983 and concours restored it (frame up) in 2000.

My 1967 Mustang
Here's my 67 Mustang, I've owned it for 30 years now (first car when I was 16 yrs old). In the past couple years I restored it to a Resto-Mod. I built the engine myself - 351 Windsor (393ci Stroker), Total Cost Involved (TCI) Independent Front Suspension Coil Over Shocks, FAST EZ EFI, Tremec 5 Speed. Here's a video of what it sounds like:
