Works at track days? Hello, I was just wondering if the license plate would stay secure on this holder during a track event.

Foster Year: 2012 Model: V6

  • The license plate secures to the holder just like any other. This holder needs to be rated for highway use, so I see no reason why it wouldn't hold tight for a track event. Just stay out of the gravel pit and you'll be fine!

Can I use this for a 2014 Shelby GT500?

69Roadrunner Year: 2014 Model: GT500

  • This is really a generic setup. It'll fit anything it's just a matter of finding a spot underneath to attach the mounting part to. I was able to reach up in my bumper to use the flat locking nuts, really solid install. There's 2 other hardware options it includes. It would be a hard to find a car that it WOULDNT work on.

Did you know you don't have a license plate on the front of your vehicle?

Every true mustang enthusiast knows that a front license plate ruins the steaming sexuality of our cars. How could you possibly love "8LT BFQ" standing out like a sore thumb on the front of your insanely customized beast? Some may ask why not get a personal plate? If we think about it for a minute its like having an extremely hot naked woman hold up a license plate in front of her...you get the point. This product allows you to hide the ugly scar your car is otherwise burdened with, and still be street legal. If that doesn't convince you to buy this product, there is also the feeling like being the bad ass Jason Statham from "The transporter" with your own mechanized flip down license plate. Still not convinced? How about it only takes a few (well worth it) minutes to install? Lets do a quick recap, Hot Chick, Mustang, You're a Badass in just a few minutes.

    Not for Mach 1's

I would have given it 5 stars except it doesnt fit 03-04 mach 1. Wish the website would have recognized that fact, otherwise I wouldnt have bought it.

    Mustang Flip Down Plate

This is an awesome and versatile product. Just got my bumper done and i didnt want to drill holes in it. The license plate holder was the perfect solution.

    not so good

I have a 2012 V6, Mustang Club of America package car. This holder requires either cutting the air dam or using it in the flipped up mode only. It\'s a one size fits all item that does not fit on my 2012. wasted my money on this one!

    Flip Down Holder

The Flip Down License Plate Holder is a great product because being from Maryland you are required to have a license plate on both the front and back of the vehicle. Instead of drilling holes in the front bumper of my Mustang I chose to go with the flip down holder. Its a great product thats easy to install and also doesn't hurt the body of your Mustang that can be seen. If I am driving through Maryland and need to have my license plate seen its there but if I am going to a show or driving in another state and don't want the license plate to be seen to take away from the car I just flip it down and slide it back under the bumper. This def. a great product for your Mustang if your thinking about buying one.

Great flip down plate for my 2012 Boss

Perfect fitment for 2012 Boss Mustang. Does not block cooling airflow when installed in center of facia. One problem on installation was the rubber expanding nuts; they pull out, so I had to use the washer head screws on the front attachment points as well as the rear single slot.

    Best option without drilling holes

Install was a snap with this one. The kit includes everything you'll need to complete the project. Just drill 3 holes in the bottom of the bumper and you're good to go. A small amount of the mounting bracket is visible when the plate is stowed. If you have a v-shaped front, I would recommend installing the plate holder off to the side. The plate hangs a bit low - under 8 inches.

Does not fit 2011 V6 without some cutting

On the 2011 V6, there is a plastic lip below painted bumper that impedes this license from being flush with the front bumper unless you cut into it. Thankfully, I actually had my local Ford dealership install this for me, and they did a fantastic job. But, beware if you have this body style, because you will either have it sticking out about 3"... or you'll have to cut that black plastic lip to make it flush. Still, it was better than drilling holes into the front of my bumper.

More labor than expected (2016 V6)

Allow me to preface this by saying that I am a college professor with minimal labor skills -- so my review is based on what my mechanic told me. I have a 2016 Mustang (V6) and below the car (where the bracket is supposed to attach), there is a rubber guard. In order for the bracket to attach, a piece of the guard needed to be removed -- roughly the width of the license plate so it can move seamlessly when "hidden" below the bumper. Furthermore, the body-shop specialist mentioned that since the attachment would be screwed onto a plastic plate, he questioned if the bracket would stay on for along period of time, particularly after the rigors of weather and freeway driving. His expert opinion: "I can install it, but I would not recommend it." Luckily, American Muscle has excellent customer support: They gave me a refund number and I have mailed it back (unfortunately we pay for shipping in which American Muscle offers a $10 UPS option). Great service, I just thought the extra labor defeated the purpose of the "no drill" concept. For now, I'll take my chances with just a back license plate in California.
